GTAIV issues, what works for me.

You would not believe the speed increase I gained from this. The game has no lag issues. I stay at 30 fps min, and never have any stutter, never have any vanishing items.

Best Online Video Outlets of 08

I can not say that Youtube is the best, just the greatest used. When they get the whole “hd” version and time span thing worked out. In due time, we all know google has a big plan somewhere up their sleave. lol.

Ok on to my favorites:

3.VEOH Nothing major ground breaking but a great gathering of videos on other people’s sites.

2.Joost The first of the best High quality, Could be best but had a face lift  mid year that changed everything and started them back at point zero, to follow hulu. I would like to locate their media player again.

1. HULU very high quallity high resolution videos.  Bad thing is, fox focused, and all the really good shows, are on fox’s website not Hulu’s. I still after 5 tries can not get the fox media player to work at all. I tried  Xp,Xp64,Vista,Xandros Linux.  but other than that, what shows they do host, are very high quality with tiny short advertisements

How to Fix GTAIV pc Memory leak

If you have a computer and plan to play  Grand Theft Auto iv  on pc.

People are  reading forums on how to resolve issues with their game. They are gathering information from people who do not know what they are talking about. I will help you with just a couple steps. First you have to understand that the person who claimed GTAIV pc has a memory leak, has no clue what he/she is talking about and should clearly be labeled the planets biggest idiot.  All planets need an idiot.

The fix, is the same fix for all games using a new architecture/engine. Here is the fix.

Go to the website for the manufacturer of your motherboard. Download all drivers for your motherboard.

Go to the website for the manufacturer of your video card.

Now before installing the new drivers, you must uninstall all the drivers you currently have installed.  I usually disabled the plug and play option in Control Panel\Administrative Tools\services. Of course I do this on Vista because it keeps trying to install some crummy drivers  when I reboot after an uninstall. You really shouldn’t need that, but if you do, you know how.

Ok after the uninstall reboot your computer, and now install your drivers one by one, rebooting after each driver installed. On the final driver install, instead of rebooting, shut down your pc. When the pc is off, unplug the power to it. Clean up all the dust in all of your heatsinks (cpu, gpu, northbridge, south etc) clean your memory sticks. Remove all dust out of your pc. Make sure your air flow is heavy through your case.

The way I do that is, at the back of the pc where you see the 80 mm fans. There is like a grill around those. Since I don’t have a 2 year old kid in my house, I snip those grills out. This drops my temperature by about 2-5 degrees C . Here’s more on the subject.

And the last thing for you. DON’T OVERCLOCK YOUR MACHINE, unless you know what you are doing.

I am a regular user at the gtaforums  located at gtaforums.com.  100% of the memory leak complaints there, have been resolved with driver issues, heat issues, or the moron tried to overclock and did not want to face the fact that his computer was the issue, not the game.

In the end, this help post will get you playing Grand Theft Auto IV, that simple. The game works fine. Maintain your rig or go back to the console gaming. The cause is not overclocking it’s self, but poor overclocking could be a factor. If your machine is overclocked, set your o/c items back to default and give the game a go. If you can get the game running with your parts clocked to normal, gradually work your way back up in o/c until you reach a stable setting.

How? As if you are overclocking your video card, move each slider (depending on the tool you are using) up by 5mhz, test the game, move up 5 more, test the game and so on till you get a crash. After crash, move sliders back three. When it stables out, move forward one, if it crashes move it back one. and so on. Helpful posts

Same with bios / cmos settings with memory and cpu. Except not with sliders of course. Yes it is tedious but it resolves your issue.

Here is a lesson in how to adjust your  settings for smooth video play

And here is the whole help page from Rockstar.

Note: You must have Vista Service Pack 1 or Windows XP Service Pack 3 installed PRIOR to installing and running
Grand Theft Auto IV PC.
Right-click ‘My Computer –> Properties’ to see if you have the latest Service Packs installed, and if not check Windows Update and download before trying to install the game.

To help you understand that. It means that if you installed the latest service pack for your operating system  AFTER you installed GTAIV. It would be wise if you uninstall the game and delete all folders now. and reinstall the game.

Somewhere there was talk of resetting your registry but I haven’t had to study that. I will look into it if needed.  Yes it sounds like a hassle, but it does tell you on the box what the required service pack would be.  Fyi  windows xp 64 , you have to have service pack 2, or it will tell you it’s an incompatible operating system. 64 is not listed in the req area :-(

It does work though.

GTA IV PC SWingswet Glitch

The glitch is confirmed, it is there in the PC version also
one minute video, shouldn’t harm anyone to wait one minute.

for the record I have
amd2 5600 dual core
Nvidia 9500 gt 512 mb
4 gigs of Ballistix pc6400 ddr2 memory
Windows Vista Service pack 1
22 frames per second looks like that.

The pop ins didn’t happen until I converted the game.
Strange how that worked.

Anyhow I found where everyone went on the xbox 360 version and the playstation 3 version of the game, and decided I would drive there in a Banshee. I mean why not, it’s a fricken Banshee!!!
The swingset shreds that car fast.

Rockstar Torronto speaks up on GTA Iv Issues

The gang at GTAFORUMS.Com Have been working hard to keep the forums under control and prevent the angry few from destroying the place and Grand Theft Auto’s good name. For the most of us, we got the game working just fine. A few people here and there had bad issues with Grand Theft Auto iv. The fourth installment of GTA.  A large amount of people complain about bad frame rates aka FPS (means Frames per seconds). But the worst issue is missing textures and or cars not showing damage. The cars not showing damage typically happens to people using ATI brand Video cards. The missing textures  happens to people using Nvidia video cards. The slow frame rate, well it leaves no one out.

From a Member of Rockstar’s Torronto group, we received a warm comfort of support

Here is the original post His name is Rockstar Toronto   lol

Hey guys,

We’ve been reading the forums and understand that several of you are experiencing difficulties with Grand Theft Auto IV PC, and we are committed to doing everything we can to help resolve these troubles. We are working on a number of solutions, outlined below, and over the next few days we will be responding to questions posed on this forum in an effort to get your game up and running as quickly as possible. Please continue to check the list below for updates.

Driver News
Were pleased to announce that in co-operation with Nvidia a new driver has been released that improves performance and fixes a major issue with 7900 series cards. If you havent gotten the driver yet download it here: http://www.nzone.com/object/nzone_gtaiv_downloads.html

ATI has also agreed to officially release Catalyst 8.12 which will release on Dec 10th from http://game.amd.com. Expect significant performance improvements when using this new driver.

Patch Is On The Way
We are working on making a patch available in the next few days. Since Grand Theft Auto IV is a Games For Windows Live game the patch must be certified by Microsoft before release. The patch is already at Microsoft and we expect a speedy approval.
The patch contains a variety of fixes including:

-A fix to the crash after legal screen that some German customers were reporting.
-Numerous improvements to the video editor: Smarter naming of videos, improved rendering quality, better fx during replays
-Fix to bowling while using certain sensitive mice
-Fix for ATI 1900 shadows
-Overall savings to memory
-Graphic improvements to particle systems and mirrors
-Multiplayer character settings are preserved
-Support for DirectInput controllers. Note: The current hack way of supporting these controllers may not work with the improved functionality. So we recommend you remove the hack before upgrading to the patch.

Issues with power management software have also been fixed (slow speed, double speed issues). Even after the patch comes out setting power management software to maximum performance is recommended. We’ve seen cases where power management software does not detect the game is running and puts the CPU in green mode.

Besides the patch we’ve also improved the way the Social Club handles data this should have greatly reduced or eliminated the Mma10 error. If you are still receiving this error after logging in and out of Social Club we would like to know as much info as you can about it.

Information Needed For Troubleshooting
We want everyone to experience Grand Theft Auto IV on the PC the way it was intended. To that end, we will continue to monitor the forums for any and all issues users are having, and respond whenever possible. We would greatly appreciate it if people with unresolved problems could post some information about their PC configuration in this thread for us. Please include the following information:

-Where exactly in the game you experienced the issue (start screen, while playing the game, etc.)
-What version of the game you have (retail, steam, other online store)
-What is your OS
-Benchmark info or DxDiag is also helpful

Rockstar Games Social Club Application Info
Due to the high volume of new Social Club users, some users may have experienced periods of time where they are unable to log into their Social Club account using the Rockstar Games Social Club application. If you are unable to log in using the Rockstar Games Social Club application, please skip the login process by clicking “Skip Login” or run in offline mode by clicking “Start in Offline Mode”. This is meant as a temporary solution to allow users to play GTA IV PC, so please continue to periodically retry your login as we are working hard to promptly address any lapses in service.

A small number of users have reported the Rockstar Games Social Club application encountering a fatal error, preventing them from playing GTA IV PC. One possible solution is to uninstall the .NET Framework (from Add/Remove Programs) and reinstall it by downloading it from http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details…&displaylang=en. If you continue to run into fatal errors in the Rockstar Games Social Club application, please contact Rockstar Games support.

Thank you for your patience as we continue to work around the clock to resolve these issues. Support updates will continue to be posted at www.rockstargames.com/support as soon as they are available, and we will update this thread with any new information as well. Please send any inquiries about non-support issues to mouthoff@rockstargames.com.

Thanks,
Rockstar Games

UPDATE – Since this thread is already getting so long we are asking everyone to post in this newly setup forum:
http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?showforum=233

This way we can better keep track of issues and have things be better organized.

Now don’t get me wrong, I am not blaming people for their gaming discomforts. Really though, the majority of people having issues had mismatched components. Wrong voltage on of processor, cards that where better for a later version of PCI Express slot. Memory sticks that performed at a higher  rate than the processors max. Some where just people who are brand new to overclocking  to play a game that will stress all video cards. Really you do not want that much stress on an overclocked card/processor.

A few people found redemption in  blackviper’s site, and others found the new  180.84 drivers to work fine. the trick was, uninstall current drivers, install new one, and delete settings file. Bif boom Bam , brand new again.

There is much hope in the patch. They are waiting on Microsoft to verify the patch.  Microsoft works at it’s own pace. I see it no sooner than the 20th. I do however hope the patch adds features.

GTa Iv Pc My Review

I like very few others, Have had as little to do with seeing GTA IV missions and feature. I did this to avoid ruining the game for me.

Even though Rockstar Never told us about a pc version to come, I still had hope.

So here is a review from a non paid true Grand Theft Auto player/lover.

For starts I had an issue with the game it gave me a fatal error. . After some research found that it was just a sign in error with Rockstar game’s server. simple fix, don’t sign into Rockstar’s social club untill they fix it.

Check in every now and again. I am kind of thankful for this because I want to get to know the feel of the game, and the way it plays and how the cars handle before I jump into a mass of retards cussing and climbing all over everyone with shotgun shoot outs. Yeah I played mta a few times and sa-mp in fact gtaclans.com is my site :-). So here is my run down of first day impressions.

The controls

I was disappointed with the lack of control features, until I figured out how to double click on the configuration. Double click it you will be a bit happier. For the most I just went with their controls but still tried to make it feel like older gta games.

Camera angles kinda irritate me a bit. I can’t find where they have the setting “steer with mouse” so the camera angles will be automatic. I hope someone shows me something before I just sit and submit.

The game when controlling the car, well it feels a bit like True Crimes. I would almost swear EA had a hand in this game.

The feel

Yeah it feels like Liberty City. But a bit more angry, with a few pedestrians really making you not like ditsy people. They talk on the cell phones all the time and say the ditsiest stuff.

When you fall, you feel it in your stomach as you have with older gta games. You almost lose your breath when it’s a 30 foot drop. anything further and the shock dissipates.

The cars feel like real cars, you over steer you slide, you under steer you skid and bump the wall (in the junker cars)

Game Play and Missions

Yep it’s GTA.

The missions keep you creaking in your chair as you actually try and lean different directions as if it will Help Niko.

The bad guys are more human now. They can lose a fight and do it looking like a person scared and hurt.

So far the three or four missions I have completed, are a tad short and easy.

First mission is always finding your house.

Second mission really reminded me of the second mission in gtaiii.. You have to go drive somewhere and pick up some girl somewhere. actually it was two but only one mattered to the person who sends you. or was that a later mission. no matter it still feels familiar.

Graphics

My video card is not the latest greatest and highest, so my settings are really low, and yet I still love the way this game looks.

With everything set at the lowest setting, it still looks better than any other GTA game out there set at max.

With everything set just a notch above lowest settings, the game looks better than console versions. I have been watching videos all day. in fact they where playing the game at the Game Stop I went to as I was picking up the game. I still liked the way it looked on the XboX360 except for that stupid blur thing they do with the current gen consoles.

Pay phones, if you wreck into them, set off some pretty blue sparks. it’s amazing what happens and how it looks.

As you crank up the settings, billboards look better with clearer text, so does the graphiti and road, but my video card ran slower and slower every time I cranked it up.

I found a nice low setting and really have a beautiful looking game play.

My favorite game of the GTA games, is still GTAIII, Second would be San Andreas. but I bet if I soak in as many hours on this one as I have with all the others, it will soon shoot to first. I loved Grand Theft Auto 3 for the simple fact that it taught me how to tweak, overclockand update/upgrade my computer. Vice city did nothing for me. it was a yellow stained flop . I mean it was like Rockstar said “heh I figured out how to make it smother” so they plopped outa game. San Andreas on the other hand tugged on the resources of my computer and once again I had a mission. The game was long, large and a blast with tons of places to drive through.

I watched the forums at gtaforums.com as I have for the past 4 years, as soon as I had a hint the game might hit pc. I watched it all the way up till I got home from work today with the game in my hands. tons of people had issues with the video. Man they got mad and would lash out at anyone who tried to help, as if they where being called stupid. but with a process of elimination, we found it was Nvida video cards and a specific driver. The fix was to just un-install the game, Delete all grand theft auto iv folders. un-install the drivers, whip out your cd that came with your video card, install those drivers and re-install the game. Pretty darn simple. Rockstar did say they have a patch in the works to resolve the issue. Read the gta forums , they will help you. There is talk of doing a back up of your entire registry before playing. if you have an issue and have to roll everything back. use th backed up registry. not sure how that works.

Well as I was saying, I was prepared for the worst . well not the worst, let’s not tempt fate.

Well day one is complete. Tomorrow when I have had more sleep, I will work the controller settings and see if I can fix that dang camera.

issues for me are as follows: camera angles, CD key registration (you have to put the dashes in), Can’t sign into windows live until you do the  windows live update, and can’t use all features until Rockstar fixes the servers

scale 1-10 , I give the game an 8 . that is first try experience, let’s see if tomorrow helps or hurts that score.

I will be back with the multiplayer report in about 5 days. I want good practice first.

Will You Computer Play GTA IV

Image straight from Rockstar’s website for Grand Theft Auto.

http://www.rockstargames.com/IV/#?page=pc

gtaiv pc stats

Now all of the “can you play it”  gamer benchmark sites, can use their cookie gathering techniques of “benchmarking”   and do an update already.

Uses way less machine than first stated.

So in short yes we will probably all be able to play this game.

But if you are not certain and ready to buy it. test your machine out.

Futuremark made this one  ONLINE BENCHMARK

This one really tries well, but needs an update here’s the link

You can however check a messload of other games.. no telling if it’s correctly testing though.

Grand Theft Auto iv here we come.

Sarah Lane has a her own Chickapedia

Well at least the freaks and stalkers did her some justice.
By not stalking her to get more information than what she
wants to release. Like some vigilant Internet Paparazzi.

Sarah Lane Chickapidia
They left out some important facts about her that could
be listed or displayed to further help her career though.
Like the line that says “dudes She’s worked with”
Really needs to list
Kevin Pereira (lol I forgot his name had to google him) From “Attack of the show”.
Adam Sessler From “Extended Play” now known as “Xplay”.
Leo Laporte The backbone to the real “The Screen Savers”.
Alex Albrecht Short term nail in the coffin for “The Screen Savers”

Her whole intermingling with chatrooms while The shows she was on
was probably the biggest reason that all chatrooms show related
that ran during live airing and recording would pack with so many people
who just want to talk to a member of the show. She was the niche
that put it all together. Along with many other reason’s their shows
took off, she was of the largest addiction. (not to give her to big of a head)

The line that says her body of work. needs to say “The Screen Savers” because “screen savers” sounds like she worked for a spam site.

To counter the “Twit” Acronym, It would be amazing if She and amber mac
and Colleen (if you do not know, then you are to far out) put together
a show called “Wit” women in Tech or “Lit” Ladies in tech.
I guess “Chit” wouldn’t be cool.

Grand Theft Auto On pc Videos.

Over the years I have created a few videos of myself playing variations of gta on my pc.

Today while in the gtaforums threads I was reading about how each person wants to creat videos to play on the net.

So I put together a  scrambled callage of my Grand Theft auto Videos

http://truxtertech.com/news/gta.html

Something to hold me down till the release of official news about GTAIV.
