Tech and Video Game Help Forum Launched

If you are in search of a community to help with a tech or video game question, head over to iworkwithtech.com

The first member to give 100 posts will be given administrator position. Second Member to give 100 Posts will be given Moderator Position. You must notify one of the administrators when you achieve 100 non spammy posts. All posts must be relevant to their section and helpful to other users.

The community is created to be helpful for people in search of  answers, so if you are a geek like myself, feel free to join and  creat a few posts answering the questions you are sick of answering, that way when you get the questions again, you can just send the link to that person, and be done with the redundancy of it.

As the owner of http://truxtertech.com I found many questions coming to pages from people who just have a bad problem they need fixed. I do not have all of the answers, So many of the questions had to go unanswered. I decided to create a place for those with questions to go and post their questions with the chance of someone answering them for them. Since I had the domain name iworkwithtech, just laying around looking dead, I made this place.

There is a page to help people locate the latest bots tips tricks and cheats for myspace and facebook games. Game like  Mafia wars, Mobsters, street racer and the such. so it would be very helpful if you could post any links to anything you know of, because I get questions here about that stuff all the time. and well, I just do not know all of that yet. I will check all links for popups and spam and any malware that might be bundled in the downloads. So please use virscan to check all downloads first. I do not want to have to ban someone for being thoughtless.

I hope you join me in this quest to save the world from their hardware/software and stupid video game.. (lol)

Special Note for those interested.

First person to make 500 posts will get Administrator position and will be given space to post advertisements and receive 50%  of the p0rofits of the traffic to the site

An Open Letter from Facebook Founder Mark Zuckerberg

December 4th, 2009 Game News No comments

Copied and pasted from facebook, Sorry I have no say on anything here except ‘What do you expect???”

It has been a great year for making the world more open and connected. Thanks to your help, more than 350 million people around the world are using Facebook to share their lives online.

To make this possible, we have focused on giving you the tools you need to share and control your information. Starting with the very first version of Facebook five years ago, we’ve built tools that help you control what you share with which individuals and groups of people. Our work to improve privacy continues today.

Facebook’s current privacy model revolves around “networks” — communities for your school, your company or your region. This worked well when Facebook was mostly used by students, since it made sense that a student might want to share content with their fellow students.

Over time people also asked us to add networks for companies and regions as well. Today we even have networks for some entire countries, like India and China.

However, as Facebook has grown, some of these regional networks now have millions of members and we’ve concluded that this is no longer the best way for you to control your privacy. Almost 50 percent of all Facebook users are members of regional networks, so this is an important issue for us. If we can build a better system, then more than 100 million people will have even more control of their information.

The plan we’ve come up with is to remove regional networks completely and create a simpler model for privacy control where you can set content to be available to only your friends, friends of your friends, or everyone.

We’re adding something that many of you have asked for — the ability to control who sees each individual piece of content you create or upload. In addition, we’ll also be fulfilling a request made by many of you to make the privacy settings page simpler by combining some settings. If you want to read more about this, we began discussing this plan back in July.

Since this update will remove regional networks and create some new settings, in the next couple of weeks we’ll ask you to review and update your privacy settings. You’ll see a message that will explain the changes and take you to a page where you can update your settings. When you’re finished, we’ll show you a confirmation page so you can make sure you chose the right settings for you. As always, once you’re done you’ll still be able to change your settings whenever you want.

We’ve worked hard to build controls that we think will be better for you, but we also understand that everyone’s needs are different. We’ll suggest settings for you based on your current level of privacy, but the best way for you to find the right settings is to read through all your options and customize them for yourself. I encourage you to do this and consider who you’re sharing with online.

Thanks for being a part of making Facebook what it is today, and for helping to make the world more open and connected.

Mark Zuckerberg

What is your Favorite online Community?

July 9th, 2009 Game News No comments

We all have used a community of some sort. From java chat rooms o Irc chatrooms, to forums and bulletin boards. We have used Myspace, Facebook, Jaiku and Twitter.

One thing they all have in common, is community.

What type of community do you like? or what kind would you like to see again.

My favorite of all time was MSN chatrooms based on city/location. Lets you make the world a bit smaller and gets you in touch with hundreds even on a day you are sick. Forums are too slow but seem to be the closest we have. IRC even though msn chat was on an IRC server, IRC seems to vulnerable for massive attacks.

S what would you like to see again, or more of?

Reasons not to Aprove the H.R.6123

May 19th, 2009 Tech News No comments

For those who do not know what the H.R.6123 bill is, let me break it down for you.
There was a girl who was stalked , and flirted with by a woman pretending to be a boy the same age as the girl. The woman was the mother of another girl who lost a cheer leading contest to the stalked girl. The woman flirted with the stalked girl then one day got very cold and mean to the girl. Girl killed herself. Here is the bill on Open Congress.
I totally agree that the family of the child who killed herself need some sort of comfort knowing the death of their child can be turned into something good. I would want the same, but these people who are backing this do not understand how the internet works. The description is to broad and vague. There are tons of boys and girls who learn so much every day with just a simple battle of witts. Arguing, flaming and trolling on the internet. It opens their minds to a new range of thought. Without conflict and contrast, we all agree. If we all agree we do not learn from each other. Some people learn from a pleasant suggestion, many learn from brute force. Telling someone they are a moron for thinking the world is flat, pretty much tells the world ” hey don’t bother with this thread, this guys is a joke” . If it was not for the flamers, our world would only be trolls.
Here is an explanation of a troll .
Trolls are people who post false information, not always to harm anyone, but to just get some sort of thrill out of confusing people, or misleading and or misinforming. Flamers are people who tell them to “stfu gtfo” if “H.R.6123″ is passed, then the trolls are left and the flamers are lobotomized. The problem of the troll or some corrupt evil rude person is left to the owner of the site to liable for.
The last frontier will have a flag in it that claims ” you can not argue, you can not fight you will go to jail”.

This bill needs to be scrapped. In fact, any bill that The ex president’s wife tries to pass is a publicity stunt and needs to be looked at again, she is the one who backed jack Thompson, and then stopped associating as soon as she ran for president. She just used that Censorship stunt to get the attention of the elderly who have no idea what computers are good for . People who lived full happy lives without it. But forgot that by the time she hit the polls, the kids she turned against, where old enough to vote now.

This “H.R.6123″ needs to be rejected and a statue of the girl harmed needs to be put up at her school in her memory. The school is where it started. Let’s not remove the world’s freedom for the satisfaction of revenge on one lady. What one calls a bully, others call em a punk. Know there are things going on that balance it 90% of the time.

Notice I say no one’s name.. In case this bill is accepted.

Anatomy of Internet Trolling

May 11th, 2009 Tech News 2 comments

We need to define a troll before we move to far into the topic. A troll is someone who joins a site that allows questions answers and common responses in oppositions or along with agreement to the original post, but instead of following format and protocol, the troll initiates a fight. Think of Fishing from a boat that is moving slowly through water. you do not have to cast out and reel in repeatedly, because the bait is dragging behind the boat. Eventually something will bite. The main goal of a troll is to look as innocent as possible while posting something off the wall, that he himself finds funny but confusing to others who are foolish enough to fall for this trolling.
The ultimate goal is to lead someone into arguing with the troll. If executed correctly, the troll will look innocent, and the dummy who fell for it, will look like he started a fight with someone who has a legitimate question about whether or not you can use skittles as ball barrings in your skateboard. This in turn leads the fooled forum goer, banned from the site for being a jerk. End result is the trolls win and there is no one left within the forum to talk to so the trolls go away. Final result: the website/forum/chatroom is now dead and all page views have stopped.
A simple minded Explanation of how to troll
How to Identify a troll.
In most cases they either have no avatar, or are using an avatar from the website. Instead of a personal choice uploaded from their location.
Watch their grammar. If you can create an account, you can form a sentence.
If you are better at speaking another language, chances are your legitimate post would be on a site based on your language.
Typos like (teh) do not count, quite common, even in hospitals.
Usually no signature, if there is a signature, either a gag link to a bad site, or something that makes fun of another person. That should be your first clue ( this person is a jerk)
The post is made, and the person is no longer signed in. Why do they do this? So they can change to another account and probably respond, to look and or sound as if they agree to the trolling post. Why? because it will question your judgment. Two verses one, who is wrong?
The dead horse. If there is something that has been almost forgotten that is a bad omen for the site you are on, they will bring it up. Repeatedly. That ip address needs to be banned. Yes it is a factual event, but let the horse decay already.
Brand New account. No you can not ban everyone for being new. But you can ban people for being new and acting like a retard. Easy answer, log into their account (as admin or moderator), change their password (switch first letter with last letter) .

How to Prevent Trolls
You can’t really unless you just don’t make a website.
They are a huge part of the internet, they actually do add an alternative thought behind a lot of stuff. Most of the time they have no idea how deep what they are saying is, they just spout out like an a.d.d. child with a bag of sugar and a pot of room temp coffee. So they say a lot of stuff and remember none of it. You on the other hand before you know it’s a troll are actually considering some of the stuff they say. It gives you ideas. If you write them down before you realize you have been duped, you may actually be on to something. Good chances you will be upset enough to forget everything until the troll is abolished.

If you need help with understanding more things about a forum/chatroom

Are we understanding that A.D.D. actually meant that some people think differently and faster, not less organized? organized differently? or will the drug companies keep that under their pillow and never let the truth out on that one?
well lol here.

The most obvious issue about social media: Is this a useful way to spend your time, or is it a sinkhole of attractive distraction? It could very easily be one of those one minute, and the other the next! It all depends on why you’re doing it, and this must be evaluated moment to moment. It’s an important distinction to make for yourself, because focus is probably your greatest asset that you can control. You must be judicious about where you place it and what you let grab it, thus reducing your effectiveness.

After years of chatroom service and message board communities, msn shut down their biggest advertisement revenue. Now they are closing the last door. but looks like there is something else coming from them. a partner called “Multiply” I have no idea what it is but I will research it soon. I hope it’s an msn style chat with city based rooms. It was nice metting people in my area I never met before. I made alot of great freinds that way and had some great times. but when the doors closed, we all went back to oour lifes.

Dear MSN Groups Customer,

As a valued MSN Groups or MSN Communities Web Folders customer, we want to notify you that the MSN Groups service will close on February 21, 2009 and you will have the opportunity to move your group to our new partner service, Multiply. We understand the importance of keeping your group together, so we partnered with Multiply to create a migration process that moves your group to their service to preserve your online community and its history. Read on to find out about how to kick off the automatic migration of your group to Multiply.

We realise this may be unexpected, so before presenting your options we want to briefly share why we’ve made this decision.

Why?
Because we are dedicated to providing our customers with the most current and user friendly technology available today we made the difficult decision to close the MSN Groups service. This decision is part of an overall investment to update and re-align our online services with Windows Live. In the long term we believe that closing the service is the best way to continue to offer innovative and effective services that help you stay in touch with the people you care about. We plan to launch a new Groups service in the coming weeks, but unlike MSN Groups, Windows Live Groups will focus on offering a place for small groups to collaborate. Multiply is available now, making it your best option today for continuing to share and communicate together online.

Options for moving your group to a new service
We’ve listed some options and resources below to help you decide what to do with your group.

  • Option 1: Automatically move your group and its data. We have established a partnership with Multiply, an online group and media sharing service so our users can choose to migrate their group to Multiply’s service. Choosing this option is free and easy to use: Multiply will move the Group’s content on your behalf and invite members to re-join your group in its new location. To begin the migration click here.
  • Option 2: Start again on another service. You can start from scratch and create your group on a different service but we recommend having your Group moved automatically by Multiply. This will enable your Group to transition easily and continue to enjoy the community you have created.
  • Option 3: Start again on Windows Live Groups. To further expand our mix of communications and sharing services, Windows Live will launch a new service this autumn, Windows Live Groups. We plan to launch Windows Live Groups to the public in the coming weeks as a service that helps small groups or clubs collaborate online.

Options for MSN Communities Web Folders users
If you use save files to the MSN Communities web folders (also known as “My Web Sites on MSN” or the web folder “My Groups”), these services are part of MSN Groups and will therefore will also be closed on February 21, 2009. We recommend that if you store files online using MSN Communities web folders that you back up these files locally, then upload them to another online storage service such as Windows Live SkyDrive. For more details on how to find and move files saved to your web folders, visit the MSN Groups Resource Center.

Your Next Steps
We have sent this letter to each MSN Groups user, whether member or manager. If you are:

  • A member or user of MSN Groups: Check with your group manager to determine whether they plan to migrate the group.
  • A manager: Visit the MSN Groups Resource Center to learn more about your options and consider soliciting feedback from your group members about what they would prefer to do, when and how. The Resource Center also provides a sample splash page you can use to notify your members that the group will move. If you’re ready to move the group now, click here.

What to Expect between now and the closing date
Between today and February 21, 2009 the MSN Groups service will remain the same as it is now. We will remove the option to add more storage to your group but other features will remain until the service is shut down and you can use it the same way you do today until the date of closure.

Where can I learn more?
You probably have more questions, and that’s why we created a website to address them. Please visit the MSN Groups Resource Center at any time for the most up to date answers to common questions, information about migrating your group to Multiply, contact information for our support staff, and important dates.

Our support staff are equipped to answer your questions and guide you through issues that may arise as you decide what to do with your group. They are ready to help so don’t hesitate to contact them at MSN Groups Customer Support with your questions.

We thank you for using our services and regret any inconvenience this may cause.

I can tweak the site. The launches will all be at the same time. So yeah I will get very drunk and and celebrate my efforts on that day.
Thanks to those who have helped and believed in my efforts and knew that I could do this.
