Name these games

Just cleaned out my closet, and pulled out a box of games, and just wondering if people can identify any of these games or all of these games.
Let’s see how many of these video games you can identify and if you have ever played any of these games.

How many games in these pictures can you name?

Yes I know it’s the same games twice. One picture is blurry at bottom and the other is blurry at the top.
Makes identifying the video games nearly impossible. So I made it easier to identify each video game.
Does anyone remember playing these games?
Are any of these games hard to name ?

If you can say anything you remember from any of these games below, please do so.

My clean pc

You will not see me going to that website.
I know better.
Anyone notice that the “Stop Sign” commercials have stopped?
And then replaced with that veri what ever?
My personal computer will not have my clean pc installed on it.
No magic elixir. You can’t rub oil on your head and make your friends any smarter. and yes, you can install a program and have it check for specific command lines or executables to be on your computer, but will not check to see if the command line is correct, or if the executable runs the proper process.
Your safest bet is taking your computer to a proper technician, to get a proper diagnosis of your computer and a correct solution to ensure that your computer will be repaired correctly if needed, at it wont cost you every month.

Found Computer Case

computer case

computer case

Found a computer case on the side of the road.
so. now I have a new addition to my custom computer cases to work on.
I plan to strip this one to the metal. Totally sandblast this one and then chunk a clear coat and have the whole polished aluminum look.
It is a small case. There is a motherboard inside that looks like the max size that can fit inside, and boy, is it ever tiny. The motherboard is supposed to be an economical motherboard. I read a few reviews and watched a couple presentations. Why? I dunno, might not even work. I guess so I have some history on what this computer used to be. So I can stay with in the theme somehow.
No powersupply, no hard drives and no cd or dvd drives. but soon.

Built Computer from Spare Parts

I have been hanging on test parts that have been given to me for reviews, and been allowed to keep. So I have held on to them because, who the heck throws away good computer parts?
Again they were all free so they are not top end but they aren’t trash.
So I snapped together a complete computer using an old HP case.
The computer boots up fine.
The parts are now dated a bit. IDE hard drive and a single core 2.5 gig Pentium Processor and an AGP slot on the motherboard.
but the cooling is good and the boot up is fast and smooth. XP operating system.
I am considering making a contest here, or turning the computer into a Roku box type media center.
The computer is currently plugged into my little 19 inch LG tv right next to the cable box and dvd player. Nothing is passing through, like cable, or dvd player. Heck it isn’t even plugged into the internet yet. I may go wifi with this computer. Uncertain yet.
I do have other cases in the garage, but I kind of want to save those for the custom mod cases I will be doing pretty soon. but that case is very heavy. Has to be over 30lbs.

You tell me, just vote yes or no if I should give the computer away in a contest here on the tech review.

netsession_win.exe Uninstall

netsession_win.exe
popped up on thousands of firewalls yesterday.
I am not sure but I assume it is all people who do not have a router with a built in fire wall.
found a post of how to uninstall netsession_win.exe

To remove it, this is the file path. Enter it into Search on the Start menu and there is an Uninstall.exe file in the folder.

C:usersUSERNAME HEREappdatalocalakamai

It prompts that the uninstall will possibly cause problems with downloads or streams and that you may be prompted to re-install at a later date.

Not sure what it will effect, but that is the method I found to uninstall netsession_win.exe.
So do it at your own risk

Many people saw that their firewall blocked it while playing video games. or doing something that is streaming. Could be part of Netflix so if your netflix goes down from this, Remember I said “at your own risk”. Some say it might be iTunes. Currently there is no confirmation as to where this comes from. As many people say they haven’t recently installed anything on their computer. Some suspect netsession_win.exe is an automatic update.

Others think that netsession_win.exe is a virus or malware. Some weirdo said something about a conspiracy.
I have uninstalled it and I am running fine. Haven’t found any programs unable to function just yet. but I am on a computer at the office. So…. Can’t really do much. I don’t have any media streaming software nor do I have any games installed.
Here is the site claiming responsibility of the netsession win.exe
Check with akamai site and see if the software is being used by someone who knows it’s exploits, and see if you have anything on their list, that might be installed on your computer. I suggest you read it carefully.

Here is a Quote from the akamai site:

The Akamai NetSession Interface DOES:

  • provide client networking technology to enable applications to enhance their video and file download capabilities.
  • enable secure, closed peer-to-peer networking so that websites can deliver files to their users economically and with faster downloads.
  • provide in-depth information about what the Akamai NetSession Interface does and how it works.
  • provide simple ways for the user to turn the netsession interface off
  • provide a simple uninstall process
  • provide an AdminTool for the user to see utilization system resources and client activity

It DOES NOT:

  • monitor your browsing or other Internet activity
  • pop-up ads
  • interrupt your web viewing experience with prompts or other annoying software tactics
  • interfere with other applications on your machine
  • hide itself on your system
  • take over your computer, nor monopolize your computer’s resources

Is there any way to see the Akamai NetSession Interface’s networking activity and other settings?
The Akamai NetSession Interface has an advanced settings interface. Most users can access the administrative tool in C:Program FilesCommon FilesAkamaiAdminTool.exe

  • Launch AdminTool from the command line
  • AdminTool supports information about cached files, network activity, and other applications utilizing the client library
  • AdminTool also provides ability to uninstall and turn the client off

What Gaming Platforms Will See GTA V

We have all seen that gaming consoles have gotten pretty powerful, and we all know that Rockstar games can take an old engine and make it better, run faster, smoother and have less glitches . We saw this with GTAIII and Grand Theft Auto Vice City, and then again with San Andreas when Rockstar started putting the wanted items into the game. Like swimming, ability to climb walls and ride a bicycle. So do the guys at Rockstar games have a big one up their sleeve? are they about to give the largest multiplatform launch simultaneously? What gaming Platform do you think they will launch on?
[poll id=”13″]
What Gaming platform do you think will see Grand Theft Auto Five
Xbox 360
PlayStation3
Nintendo Wii (wii U)
Windows Computer (PC)
Apple/Mac
hand held only
Are the options. For clear obvious reasons.
Here is a link from Walmart showing that currently there is only Xbox360 and Playstation 3 versions of GTA V ready to sell for June on release.
There are rumors that GTAV is coming out for Mac computers and some people are actually hoping that the release date will be near the release of the Nintendo Wii u. Some say that the regular Wii might be able to handle grand theft auto 5 if the game is optimized properly. There are a few people saying that GTA v stands a chance of being made just for hand held gaming systems. To me that is just nuts but i may as well leave it as an option. Others say it will be across all platforms and some some say just for the high end gaming consoles like the ps3 and the 360.
I am glad that none of this is confirmed right now because last Grand Theft Auto (that would be gtaiv)release nearly stressed me out. I am a pc gamer, so not seeing the game until about a year after initial release, was not cool at all. That’s even after the initial release was held back for almost a year already.
So please do not freak out and post hatred because I listed some strange ones. It’s just stuff I have been seeing on the internet. and they have a small chance of being correct. Nothing is confirmed yet so let’s speculate :-)

But feel free to explain your answer, and reason and logic behind your answer.

Fake System Restore is a Virus

Fake computer repair/Restore software infects your computer with a bad virus that is hard to remove, hides your desktop icons and all of the items in the start menu and makes all of your folders hidden and read only. The Virus Also kills Task Manager.
On Windows XP windows 7 and windows vista.
The program has been called pc repair, system restore, pc restore, and probably a few more names I haven’t expected yet.

The pop up tells you that your hard drive can’t be read and your video card is overheating and that this semi-legit looking (except for the buy now button) can fix the issue.
This Virus is a bad one. Killed my computer at work. First Got a pop up that looks like System restore (kind of. never really looked at it) Except in the corner it says “buy Now” and across from it is the cancel button. Now me being a vet of these pop ups I assumed that by clicking the red X in the corner I have better odds than if I click either of the offered buttons.
Boom. all of my icons Vanished and my start menu became emptied, completely. Start menu was completely void of all options. Everything I had in my quick launch deleted off also. Not cool.
I tried the ol 1-2, and rebooted. Nope. Blue screen of Death. Safe mode, nope blue screen of death. Put another hard drive in and use it as the primary hard drive and scan the first hard drive with it’s virus scanner. Which was Windows Essentials. Found the ROOT KIT right away. After the delete and another reboot, blue screen of death.
But after about 6 hours of freaking out hoping the boss does not see. I get my computer restored
Here’s what I used.

RogueKiller.exe
ATF-Cleaner.exe helps clear up what’s on your computer in folders that you got locked out of in the attack.
Spybot
Believe it or not I used ESET Online Virus Scanner  to clear out the Viruses that this System restore thing gave me (worked great on Xp computer, did just okay on windows 7)
Microsoft Essentials Not a bad free Virus Scanner. Works pretty good. Makes the computer a bit slow though. I uninstalled it after I used it. This one finds the trojans left behind from the System Repair virus on Windows 7, and finds some for the system restore virus on xp. and windows 7
unhide.exe will get your icons back and your files back that disappeared when the virus hit you.

Then to get my icons back in order on my desktop, killed Explorer and restarted Explorer. To get the Explorer to run, I hit Windows button and the letter “D”, until I could right click on my desktop. You might have to do this three times or so. once you can right click, select “New” and select “Shortcut” Then it will ask you what you want to name it and where you want to point it. point to “C:\Windows\System32\taskmgr.exe” and save. Now double click that shortcut, and kill all instances of Explorer.exe. Then while still in taskmanager on the applications tab, look at the bottom, click the “new task” button. when it opens, type Explorer.exe.

Your folders are not gone, they are hidden and put into “read only” mode. You have to navigate to drive c: find and empty space (no icons in the way) Right click and select “properties” find the view tab. Scroll down and make it makes hidden folders visible folders. Click apply . Now you have to go to each folder one by one, or you can just use that program I posted up there called “unhide.exe” Does all of the unhiding of the folders again. Not sure which one but one brings back all of your uninstalls and fills your start menu again. It’s not a perfect science but it gets you closer with a mess ton of less work. One of those files looks like you have to register, don’t fill anything in just hit ok, it will work in trial mode.. you’re just going to use it once anyway. I did it backward and manually started doing all of this while my friend looked up what to get, by then I was about 30% into it, so some stuff the programs were to do, I already did it and some stuff I did, I bet the programs don’t do. but run all of those before you get to far into it that way you can see for yourself what they fix. Should make a lot of stuff much easier once you use the virus scanners and empty all of that stuff out.
Eset, I never liked them until this. They did quite a bit, and Microsoft essentials found the root kit.

That’s what did it for me.
Hope this works for you.

If this works for you, please share the link or comment below, let me know I am helping. If you need any ideas or tips or better understanding of anything, post below. I will do my best.

In the comments section of another post, someone made a connection between this virus and the software I noted . Netsession_win.exe

What becomes of Apple now

Now that we have lost Steve Jobs, we have to question what will come of Apple. What will come of computers and cell phones from here?

My worry is that no one will fill Steve job’s spot and be creative and wise as he was all in one, and still run a company as he did.

If that will be the case, then we stand a chance of very little competition. with little competition, comes little growth through competitive progress processes. The desire to make your product better than the competition is what makes innovation. With less innovation by competitive motivation, we will become stale like a gaming console that floats 5-10 years without expansion or growth. We settle into acceptance and learn to just “deal with it “. Sometimes change is good for us. Options are even better for us.
So what becomes of Apple? what ever happens to apple, will reflect on what happens to Microsoft and what happens to Linux and what happens to Android, and to RIM and Symbian.

Will Apple consider this, Will it be easier and cheaper on Apple to just go for the lazy guy who doesn’t care? if so. It will be a fast sweep by Microsoft to take in Apple, and well… Linux would be a flash and soon forgotten.

Not to be a fear monger just trying to think ahead. Hopefully Apple is thinking ahead.

What comes of Apple and do they have an announcement coming soon? They very well should, if they want to keep their stock steady.

Inexpensive ways to Speed up Your Computer

These are the steps I take to speed up my computer. I have been doing this since my first computer, when I first noticed it was getting slow. These steps work every single time I have had an issue with a computer running slow. and I never really had to buy much. Except for canned air.

First thing is, any software that runs when you first start your computer, that is an optional software that you yourself installed, go into the options area of that software and tell it not to run at computer start up . It’s always better practice that when you install the software, tell it not to run at start up. That way you make sure the software never is an issue. If the software installer does not allow you to do so, then try the options area once you confirm that the software runs at start up. One easy way to check is look over by your clock. There might be a few icons around the clock. Go to each one of those items and right click them, go to options and turn those things off and tell them not to run at start up.
If that does not work and the option to dissable auto run is not available. Then you might have to resort to Msconfig and look in the second to far right tab. Should say “startup”. Look for anything that you installed. I myself right away look for “Jusched”, Jusched is Java Update Scheduler. Why is that running? why is that not an optional update? why does it cripple so many computers? Next is I disable anything adobe. but that is only because I don’t use adobe for anything but reading a pdf file. That can run when requested. the whole fast start stuff is bull crap and shouldn’t be an option. Adobe opens no slower if you opt out of fast start. If it does, it’s not much.. maybe three seconds. just for that I typically uninstall adobe from the computer I am using and resort to the faster safer alternative, called “foxit” lets you do more than adobe reader and is faster loading with tabs.
Next is I run a malware scanner, Like a-Squared, Bit defender
(ads moment)
Bit Defender Antivirus

Once the malware is removed. Yeah. I say that as if I am sure something is on there. Instead of the first reboot, I shut the computer off. I crack the case open and locate all heatsinks. Drag the whole computer outside and grab some canned air. I think blast the motherboard, the processor (CPU), the video card (GPU), north bridge , memory sticks, hard drives and cd/dvd drives and then I blast and wipe the interior of the computer case.
after I get the computer put back together, I boot the computer up and go about my merry way.
Some people tell you that you need to run a defragment with your computer. I don’t see it doing much good these days anymore. Maybe back when hard drives were smaller than a floppy disk This would be a big issue, but now, the hard drives are so large, and processors are so fast and the computers come with so much memory in them, a defragment of the hard drive would be like a drop of water in a planet covered in water. Very ineffective and undetectable by a human. but you can try it. It shouldn’t hurt you. Defrag is located somewhere in your menu, usually under system tools in the start menu of all windows computers. Been there for years. Crazy they took out program manager but not defrag.
none the less, that should help you out a bit in making your computer a bit faster, or closer to the speed your computer was when you first bought it.
If you do these steps on a regular basis like once every two or three months, you should pretty much keep your computer running good for a long time with this. I usually do this stuff the same weekends I get my oil changed on my car. keeps my synced up.

I actually do all of this every time a friend or a relative asks me to work on their computer. Just getting their computer back running faster is enough to make them happy.
