Conduit Toolbar Follow up

Well . I am done with them.

They stopped me at $49.41 (pay out is $50)

Gave me a story of how they now, only pay per install. Because that is how you show good quality… um no dude. quality is continued usage. you make money off the searches through Google using your toolbar, Share the wealth guy. A couple months ago they killed my other toolbar, the one I was migrating to. The truxter toolbar is no longer supported. They have stopped that one because not enough people downloaded it. Um.. wait.. so you stop the downloads because not enough people download it… You know what.. I am done with you guys all the way.

I know for a fact that ten people are in direct usage of the tool bar I snapped together through your a.d.d. farm.

I couldn’t find the spot to drop my account. You deal with it. There are so many curse words I want to fling right now. but I am not doing that.
So here, it is yours, do what you want.

For those who want to know what a 4 year old account on conduit looks like when you are not a spammer, scammer, or a person with malicious intent, here is what the pay out and respect looks like after 4 years of showing people a safe virus free version of their Garbage looks like. A guy that does not put up buttons on a page about some free software and leave a “download now” button for the tool bar right above the other free software on that page tricking people into installing the toolbar by accident instead. No. I left my toolbar with full explanation on pages about that toolbar, in banners. Not some bundled garbage with with weather bug and cool web search crap. The stuff that gives a toolbar bad names.. And this is the Thank you I get.

They have asked me to email them. Why? what’s there to achieve from an email? An excuse pre-planned or concocted from a mass of group thinkers. Screw that. I’m done.

Here all, have fun with the below..

Conduit Stats after 4 years

Latest Email from Daniel at Conduit.

Hi,

This is Daniel from Conduit. I noticed you have followed up on your post in Truxtertech and I understand you are still unclear about how the toolbar revenue model works. First of all please let me assure you we do not deal with fraud or scams. Everything we do is perfectly legal and according to industry standards. Our purpose is to provide a free and safe environment for publishers to create toolbars which will then engage their users and increase traffic to their site.

The PPI program acts as an incentive for publishers to promote a useful and appealing toolbar. According to the program you will receive payment per each installation of the toolbar. This way we hope to encourage web publishers to get as many of their users to install the toolbar. The rate per each install is based on the performance of the toolbar. So a toolbar which has good components and generates usage by their users would get additional revenue. The purpose is not to only generate installs (which you mentioned as very simple), it’s also to engage your users with a successful toolbar. If I look at your example then; installing the toolbar on every computer you work on will generate you revenue, but it will lower your PPI rate so the revenue you will generate per toolbar might be very low. On the other hand, if many people install the toolbar and use if often, the revenue you will generate per toolbar will be much higher.

I hope this clarifies your concerns. As I mentioned in my previous email, I will be happy to work with you to get the most out of your toolbar. Please let me know.

Thanks,

Daniel

This is his response to my post Conduit Toolbar Review – Affiliate

Wow. Hmm. I hope it didn’t take a whole crew to put that together and it’s okay to say that just one person wrote that email.

Seems I have to make my own toolbar so I can focus on my adsense account search. I spent so much time working on theirs.

and yes I know exactly how many computers I personally installed that stupid toolbar on.

Thanks conduit. Well the time wasted is equivalent to playing solitaire for  4 years. Hope you made plenty of money.

My son sent one out to a bunch of kids who installed his for a week then they all got tired of the game and uninstalled it. He made $75 in a week. I have been making users who keep the thing for years and they have not paid me yet. Oddly enough, I see these computers I work on, they still have the toolbar. but conduit shows that I only have 5 active users. hmm.

I repair computers, and any and every time I see one with some B/S toolbar on it, I install mine to assure that person will not have a virus. I know exactly how many installs I have made, and I know exactly how many users of my toolbar are out there (unless a few people downloaded themselves).

So if you are wondering if Conduit affiliate sucks, or if Conduit pays. I myself can’t answer that question for you. It is for you to decide.

***update**

I found on the conduit website people complaining about the conduit pay out. here. I don’t count on them leaving anything like this up much longer “we archived it”

I don’t agree with all or even most of the statements being made about payout being a scam. I surely do not agree with the clowns saying ” you are getting a website enhancement for free”. That’s just stupid. Who likes to see a button on a website that says ” click here to install” ? Who likes to see a big banner asking you to install a toolbar? That is not an enhancement. You are not being done a favor because you link people to software that has a search in it that leads to a greater income to Conduit. You are doing conduit a favor.

The least we can ask for is that conduit breaks us off a bit of the income we bring them by distributing their software. They don’t advertise in google because it would cost them money. So if they want to advertise their software on my site, then they darn sure better pay me. You want that space? rent it buddy. I want by default at least $50 a month for keeping your stupid link up. and for the people  that stay using my version of that toolbar, Conduit should pay me atleast 10% of the income that toolbar creats, for my efforts at trying to make a good toolbar that will not get uninstalled at any time. And that toolbar will continually get used for searches and what ever embedded items they draw revenue from.

They are not a group that just makes software for the fun of it.

So if you are wondering if Conduit toolbar actually pays, That decision is up to you

My two cents.

One View of Pirating

I was having a discussion of what pirating was in a forum that I typically converse in. I was having an issue with games for windows live not accepting my install cd key, the thread was created to inform the other users of said site of what betrayal i was facing from something i trusted to invest $60 into. Here is more on games for windows live having a limited install.
I said “no one pirates itunes garbage”. This person from the site gave a response that stunned me. I didn’t expect it , I didn’t believe it till the second time he stated it more clearly. He actually said “iTunes itself is free, some Apps are free, but with a jailbroken device you can find most any app you…..” it goes on a bit after that, but really. I can handle only so much. So I realized I was actually holding a conversation with someone who is brand new to the topic. This person did not see the heyday, this person got interested in computers and the internet, within the last three years. This person was born after 1994.
So I decided to make it clear for others who did not get to be a part of the boom. I give you internet history on it’s dirty side. The side that will not be in future history books.

I give you the response I gave him

You just now told me what age group you are in.
Sorry didn’t know how new you are.
Itunes the name means “music” (tunes is clue #1)
I tunes has been selling music for +5 years now.
The apps thing is quite new
Roughly 3 years

Back in the day, music was the number one controversial pirated item on the internet.
There used to be some major hitters in the pirating world.
Napster
Limewire
winmx
Kazzaa
Almost all are gone now.
Some have resurfaced as something else.
Truly if it was not for them, the public never would have demanded greater speeds for their internet connections and we would not have the internet the way it is now. 2.0 would not have been an option. php would not have been an option, flash well it would have demised…. well in a flash.
1994-1998 Music pirating was so common that radio station djs would make their playlist at home and bring to the station these crappy assed 32-64bit overly compressed 200k songs and play them on the radio. some of us would bitch how it sounded like the music was being played in a sewer drain.
Around 2000- 2002 Itunes was announced. No one moved for the first year. because it was free. but apple played a bunch of clever commercials. by 2004 all pirating had come to a skid. there was a huge standstill, because Kazaa was seized and millions of i.p. addresses were placed public as targets of interest by the riaa..

You know what… I have gone to far with this. i think I have a cool post for the tech blog… later dude.

Some of the time-line might be a tiny bit tilted, but it’s can’t be by much.

“Blapkmarket” pirated app Shut down

This news is from TechCrunch
I do not understand some of the stupid fees people charge for some of the aps they sell.
I mean many people have completely justifiable fees for their software. Because they thought of something totally new to solve a problem they have been facing.
but have you tried a pdf reader yet? IMHO, the only people who should be able to charge for a pdf ap, are the ones who first created pdfs. I think it would be best if Foxit just made a free pdf reader for droid and made it available, to kill out all of the jerks charging for pdf readers. same thing for open office. Why is it that someone other than the inventors of excel, can charge for a program that reads excel files? IMHO that is pirating.
How about the hundred pay version of fake snake and pacman ?
If it is fake and not the inventor, why can this guy who compiled it (cloned for droid or what ever you call it) can charge for it? is that not plagiarism ?

but I did find one guy who made a voltage drop calculator, now that dude had a task and wanted to make it easier. He should get paid for his works, and get a gold medal!! lol.
I would bet that most of the people who’s “works” got pirated, can’t really press charges, because their stuff is a rip off of someone else’s work.

I do think it’s good the pirating site is down. because of all of the legit software, it needed to be shut down. I do have to say though, that almost everything I have tried to install on my phone that I needed, was trials for software that is a rip of some other software. Of course I did not install even the free trial.

Is Internet Pirating Really Theft ?

If you see something that you are not willing to pay for, is that considered theft ?

There is a movie in the theater, and you really have no interest in that particular movie, you do not just jump on your bicycle and head up there to watch this movie. You never bother. One day it comes on cable or regular tv and there is nothing on, so you finally watch the dang thing. That is not pirating. If there is no access to this item other than pay, and you do not want to pay to see the movie, you do not see the movie, if the same person sees the movie for free, there is no actual loss to anyone. If anything, there is one more person on the street to say ” hey man I saw that dang movie and it really was a whole lot better than I expected.” Or the reverse. I can see how bad press from someone who has not completely earned and completely does not deserve the privilege to have an opinion of said film, could be offensive, but if you think about it ” yeah we know our film sucks, but we want people to pay for before they say anything”, is twice as offensive.

Is it bad to buy a $60 video game, install the game with your registration code and then turn around and download the pirated version and use the “no cd crack” that way you can leave the game disk in it’s case so that it will not get scratched? So you are not pulling the disk out every single time you want to play the game you paid for ?

Should purchasing be considered a gamble?

If one friend tells you the media you are interested in is garbage, while another friend tells you it is the best thing since gravity, would it be wrong for you to download the media and try it out so you can decide for yourself ? That is of course if you are in the position to not be able to try your friend’s copy.

As far as software goes, it’s kind of the same situation. How do you know if something is worth having without knowing if it will serve your needs?

I believe it is theft when you know the product that you are obtaining is going to suite a need for you and you still decide to not pay for this product. It is theft when you yourself pirate the item then turn around and sell your copy or sell duplicates of this product. You are then cutting into the profits of the original maker of the product. I believe it is theft when a manufacturer creates a product and tells you it will fullfill your needs in one specific area, and the product turns out to not serve the purpose stated. I believe it is theft when a manufacture creates a music cd and sells you this cd for $20+ and on the whole disk, only one song is worth listening to. I believe it is theft when a manufacturer creates a cd $20+ and it only has two or three songs on it total. I believe it is theft when a musician decides to not create a cd and use a professional label yet turns around and splits up all of their music on a media sell site, like itunes and sells the items at the price greater than what they would have made through a label, I mean really, we don’t even get a hard copy of the media and the quality is far to low. It is wrong to justify any of these earlier mentioned statements, to decide to download a copy of these items and not show your apreciation by giving the money required to obtain such media.

but everyone should be able to sample.

GTAIV For Pc Download

Grand Theft auto, the very first grand theft auto was up for trial or demo for months before and years after it’s official release date. GTA2 did the same thing. People soon figured out how to crack the demo so you could get the full game. Why did they put the whole game in the demo? end result, the game actually played smoother and faster and better, from teh cracked version over the full install.

Gtaiii did not, nor did any pc version after.

I am quite sure the searches for torrents are probably taking down the pirate bay. But rest assured , it will be better if you buy this game from Steam . That is of course if you really must download the game. In situations like you are waaaaay to far from any store that will sell it. I myself want the full package, I want the map, the case, the disc the whole nine yards.

I will fully install the game from the disc I purchase. I will also purchase the game on steam, I will play both.

I will surely have to crack the game to get it to work on linux. I will help others in making gtaiv work on their linux box.

There is a large community of us, about 2000 user from gtaforums.com who will do anything and everything to stop torrents from distributing compies of GTAIV. We will make every effort to report the people who seed illegal copies of the game, and in doing that, the people who download while the seeders get busted, will get caught also. So it is strongly advised that you wait your time like the diehard gta fans are doing. If you have to have it sooner than others, or any other reason you must download it, go to steam.

Good luck have fun, happy gaming
