About Windows Patches and Service Packs

Windows Update has always been a great offer from Microsoft. You can just click a shortcut and install teh latest drivers that have been accepted by Microsoft, for your computer. Along with driver updates, you also get software patches and security patches. Many of these updates could very well be needed. And with lots of Microsoft software, You can not use the software without having automatic updates turned on.

The issues I have, is that your computer is constantly checking for update, or on set specific dates you have automatic updates configured to always check. Usually found control panel, but labeled differently depending on what version of windows you are using. If you have an internet provider with a limited monthly bandwidth, automatic updates could cause some issues. I have been using windows since 3.11, and since updates came about, I found that my computers always run their best and their fastest when I do a fresh install, turn off automatic updates and personally go to all manufacturer sites and get the drivers myself. So far the only operating system service pack I have ever used that worked well, was xp service 3. The first two patches nearly left my computers (at the times) crawling and needing upgrades just to continue being useable.

I don’t believe that every security patch scare is for the reason they claim. Otherwise they would fully announce that windows genuine advantage, actually gave you a genuine advantage.

If I can’t use software I paid for, with updates turned off, then I will not buy any products form that provider again. Easier explained, I have wine installed to my Linux partition so I can run some tools along side of some of the Linux tools I have, and well, without some of what the software may be looking for, it will not run.

I claim that from here on out, I will never buy software that forces me to turn on automatic updates. I enjoy my computer running at full speed. You can do what ever you feel safe with.

Windows Xp Service pack 4 Please

Microsoft should put out a service pack 4 for windows xp.
A service pack that turns xp into any other operating system.

XP is the biggest failure of all Microsoft’s operating systems. I have spent countless hours looking at a computer screen doing exactly what that screen has on it. yep. Matching the win screen of solitaire.
Problem is, they listened to the hackers who griped about the flaws in the operating system. They listened to them so much, Microsoft lost site of the plan. Microsoft started fixing and patching and correcting the noted errors, instead of fix and patch function and appeal.
Truth is, if there is a hacker, there is a flaw. Not the other way around. If the computer tech dude, that is digging around, is techy enough, he will always find a flaw. All I.T. guys know that all I.T. guys think the other guy is an idiot, and they will dig for hours to prove it.
So Windows XP, stayed a hot wet steamy lump of of memory dump for how many years? Way to long.
Yet here I am, in an office that uses nothing but windows XP because some retarded guy who’s mom was best friends with the boss’s wife, has it installed on every single computer here. Can we safely tell the rainman “If you didn’t have such a learning disability, nothing would be backward designed here, please evolve us” ? or do we just keep saying “yes you are so smart, look at you.. You won that conversation. Loo at you… good boy”. Or should we pull out all guns, drop our modesty facade and humble this idiot?
Nope we just sit here and wish things were different.
Microsoft. please for the life of anything sane offer an optional service pack 4 that we can 4 dollars for and let the update turn us into windows vista.
Oh and I want my fricken progman back, If you bring program manager back, I will gladly fall in lust with (code name) windows 8 .
Nothing like turning off all themes and explorer.exe and running on multi cores and using almost no resources.

plan service pack 4 in request.

Latest Batch of Updates from Microsoft

October 18th 2010
Dang thing took three installs to complete.
and I have to say

WHAT IN THE BLUE HECK DID YOU DO TO SERVICE PACK THREE? SERVICE PACK THREE KILLED PROGMAN BUT TO DEAL WITH THAT I ACCEPTED THE SPEEDS YOU GAVE ME NOW YOU TAKE AWAY THE SPEEDS? I NEED PROGRAM MANAGER BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well looks like we are being herded even more into a “one button and enjoy only what you get do not complain even though you pay $400 for the software” kind of world. because now windows Xp is completely unusable.

I have automatic updates turned off from here on out and a I will not be installing any more and I am uninstalling all of the latest patched software. sorry but I refuse to listen to all of the falling sky war cries m$ screams in the try to make us all move to the windows 7 world. Yes I have seven at home but our IT guy here at work is afraid to evolve so I have to work with what I have.

Tiny 7 Users – You need to know

For the few 200-300 searches I see a day looking to fix an install of Tiny7, I have some information that is going to help you. Help you a whole lot. You need to hear (read this) because the answer is right in front of you but you somehow just can not see it.
Windows 7 is an operating system created by Microsoft.
Tiny7 is not.
Tiny 7 is a copy of windows 7 that has had so much stuff stripped out of it, you get a faster running machine because there are a whole lot less resources being used by the typical running software.
Some things you install may not work because the software that it depends on, will not be on the machine. So you have to search for that software on the internet and get it installed so your machine can run the process you are needing. Trust that this software has a potential of making your computer a tad bit slower.
On that note. Windows Tiny 7, is not a full legal version to install and run as a computer. The guy that distributes the software, Makes it clear that he is just trying to see how little of processes he can make it to before the operating system is none functional. His goal is to run the operating system with as few resources and processes as possible. He is uploading the software for you to look at what he did, and then give him ideas as to what to do next. He has no intentions of you making this your primary operating system on your primary computer. I think that is why he stopped working on the project after tiny vista was fully complete.

On that note. DO NOT try and register tiny7. That is not what he intended for you to do. DO NOT try and get updates to Tiny 7. It will check with WGA (windows Genuine Advantage), see it is a pirated copy of windows, and then it will lock you down. You will then be locked out of your own computer, simply because you have not been logical.

You can change the cd key of the install of your copy of tiny 7 by just calling Microsoft’s hot line. Do not bother with doing the voice recognition thing, it is frustrating . I just yell into the phone “blabble zabble deepledorf” repeatedly while crackling plastic wrap next to the mic until a human gets on the phone. Works like magic. Tell them what ever it takes to prove that you are not out to rip anyone off and you just like the version you have and would like to register it with a new key. It will work. be persistent and insistent that it is the best operating system you have ever used and is better than any other operating system Microsoft offers.

There are tons of ways around WGA. But they always get stopped and Microsoft fixes those tricks. Really I have no idea why you would download an operating system from a stranger and then worry about security patches. In 12 years only one single service pack that Microsoft distributed didn’t slow your computer down more than it already was. In fact service pack 3 on Windows xp, made most computers faster. Then patches that came later, slowed them all right back down.

Ignore the fear mongers that tell you some virus is in the wild and without some Service pack, your dog’s fur will fall out. Don’t believe them when they say the latest service pack will make my computer faster. It’s a trap.

The right thing to do is just out right buy windows 7. You can get the OEM version of Windows 7 at less than half cost.

Or quit trying to register something you know is not legal.

Quit trying to patch something you have no rights patching.

and if your  machine has you locked out, lol .. NEWBY.
