I never trust any news that tells us to change to a “new internet”. because of some IPV4 flaw or some sort that nullifies any current existing computer’s default connection.

The day that you can no longer http://truxtertech.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/comcastscams.jpgconnect the “original way”, is the day you might notice what you gave up.

IPV6 (or anything new for that matter) should and is an option for everyone, but never should be mandatory.
The further you get from your roots, the harder it is to hang on to the value that influenced your knowledge/likes as it is.
What is to fear is a day that we only have cloud storage, no hard drives and no upgrades at all to be made to our own “personal computers” worth calling personal. Everything is in the hands of NSA and the people charging you a monthly fee to connect to your devices. but if you pay more you can get more speed from your web based operating systems

Meanwhile your isp is charging you but gives you a limit to how much you can see a month.
Understand that limit won’t change just because your stuff is now stored on a server somewhere in nsa camps labeled as “neat cloud stuffy stuff”. Count on those excuses being stocked loaded and cocked waiting for the moment to use. Even though Level3 has already shown us that the reasons our ISPs give us for monthly limits are all BS.
So you will be eating your monthly limit just accessing your own files and when you hit your limits (which you will) you will get charged an overage charge. and you will be helpess if you are without a network connection.

I do not want web based apps.
I do not want a web based operating system.I do not want web based storage.

 

Don’t fear monger me into a new internet. Don’t tell me that I have to be scared of something new on the internet that will get me because there is no controlling it.  Microsoft already did this to us with telling us to update and patch. With updates and patches that seemed to slow us down terribly, just before the release of their newest, latest and greatest operating system. Only to go through it time and again.

 

The reason to fear a new method of connection, is for privacy and the option to say “nah I’ll pass”.
We should always be allowed to pass .

Think of another way to protect us from your internet monsters.

Verizon or Netflix throttling video streaming

So a guy decided to use a proxy (which he says is a vpn… but okay) to connect to Netflix to see if he can get his videos to stream faster.

This being his internet provider, which is Verizon is accused of slowing down video streaming via Netflix.
and Verizon is accusing Netflix of throttling the videos . (throttling means slowing down the downloads of media)

One of these two services is kind of “slowing down productivity” for a greedy motive.


This video could very well verify that someone is throttling the streaming speeds. Or the guy that uploaded it is a troll.

Throttling is illegal. been deemed illegal for a good five years. Consider it to be something that can be used for extortion. and here we have another problem.
Verizon and Comcast and a few other ISPs are pushing against Net Neutrality to enforce a “fast lane” streaming for companies that only allows fast streaming to their customers only available to websites that pay for “Fast lane”.

Meaning you pay your ISP for fast internet. It comes out of your pocket from your hard earned money. The video is on a site that pays their host for fast uploads so people can stream movies and music at fast speed. Now your ISP thinks they deserve money from the people streaming the video and you, or you will not be able to see the video any faster than the guy who pays less for a slower internet connection.

This is unfair to their customers and to the website owners/people streaming the videos. Such as Netflix or Youtube and the like. This wouldn’t even be fair if the ISP decided to charge everyone the same rate and give them the exact same speed at a super discount, then charge Netflix and youtube the difference. because… Netflix and youtube are already paying for their consumption through their host and their hosts ISP…

The Truth about What You Share on Facebook – but wait till you see what happens next

facebookThere is a current gullibility in Facebook that is an old media tactic to get readers and viewers.  Usually this tactic delivers an uneventful outcome and often is someone who embeds a video from YouTube into their page where they just talk about what is in the video. Instead of just linking you to the video it’s self. Instead they are trying to get their page shared to share the content of the YouTube video so the website owner can cash in on the hard work of the video maker.

Some people with good videos on YouTube, have advertisements in their video so they can be credit for their work in a manor that does not harm the viewers nor does it cost the viewers anything except a few seconds of their time as the advertisements load.

youtubeWhat you can do as a respecting person, is click the title of the video at the top left and that will take you to the YouTube page. share and like that. This gives more credit to the person who actually made the video. Not the leeches.

 

Let’s be honest, you really have no idea if the site with the video embedded in it, is trustworthy or not.

To many unfair people out there.
Only the internet should determine what is distasteful and disrespectful. So now that power is in your hands.

and yes I titled this like they do “wait till you see what’s inside”.

Woman calls her ex 77000 times in a week

WOMANSTALKERARRESTEDThere is a photo circling Facebook that has a woman’s arrest mugshot, and she is crying. The photo’s text says she is a woman who called her ex in excess of 77,000 times. and sends him over 41,000 text messages and 647 letters in 7 days. and somehow gets arrested by police.

Albuquerque| A New Mexico woman was finally arrested this morning by officers of the Albuquerque Police Department in what could be the most extreme case of stalking ever recorded in the history of the country. The 28-year old woman allegedly not only called her ex-lover a formidable 77639 times in a week, but also sent him 1937 emails, 41229 text messages, 217 sung messages and 647 letters in the same period.

This is fake. She would be calling every 7.7 seconds with zero time for sleep in a week, then in the same time texting him every 12 seconds. While writing an email every 20 seconds. It is humanly impossible.Who she is.  she is the lady in the mcdonalds video that flipped out in the drive through back in 2010. The woman in the picture is named “Ciera Steed” . Feel free to search her name. My best results come when typing “Ciera Steed arrested” .

Let’s do the math. In seven days there are only 10,080 minutes. and there are only 60 seconds per each minute. This woman  be hitting redial every seven seconds, and some time sthat isn’t even enough time for the phone on the other end of the line to start ringing. and she would be sending out a text message every 12 seconds. Meanwhile writing 600 letters, we can assume would be 9 letters a day, and somehow finding a break in her calls every seven seconds to leave a voicemail. Even if she was three people using three phones with the exact same phone number, it would still be impossible. Someone has to sleep eventually. and eat. and wipe after using the restroom.

There is currently no sign if this her ex-lover making this fake post, or the people in the McDonalds where she flipped out, or just some random troll on the internet who found a picture and went to town with it making a fake post. but this Facebook image post is false.

 

and after doing my handful of searches to get the information about this stalker photo I  am sharing here, I have got to say… There are a ton of stupid people on the internet running websites.
There are greater than 5 pages full of people who think this image is real. 5 Google results pages (before I gave up) of people who really think that a woman can call her ex 77000 times in seven days.

How to Handle the facebook Sunglasses Spammers

sunglasses_spammer_facebook We have all seen these Lower than life fake RayBan fake Oakley sunglasses spammers on Facebook that are tagging people in pictures they post. and we just scroll past them but deep down wish it would stop.
If you were unsure, I will help you.Those sunglasses posts. They are spam and they are not legit. I wouldn’t buy anything from either of those pages, nor would I trust them, if you don’t get your bank account wiped out from trying to purchase from them, you will get crummy illegal knockoffs that will get you laughed at by someone who knows better.

Let’s not be defeatists. This can be resolved and it may prevent people from trying new ways to spam.

This is how you can help make these go away. By reporting the spammers on Facebook.

tag_spam_sunglasses_facebookPut your mouse over the name of the account that is tagging your friend, and right click and select “open in new tab”.
Now navigate back to your timeline by clicking on the original tab.
Now go back to the tagged image.
Where you see the post, you will see in the top right corner of that post, a small arrow pointing down. Click that arrow. Then click the “hide all from Oakley Online” or the RayBan account or all of the other sunglasses spammers.

There’s a tad bit more to do here
but don’t freak out when it vanishes
Don’t change pages and don’t hit refresh, you have to look close. Look for what you see in the next image.

This will make the tagged post disappear from your current view

You will see what looks like that picture there in the place of the spammy picture. You will notice a message in there that says:
“You will no longer see posts from Oakley Online in News Feed Undo
Why don’t you want to see this?”
and the bottom sentence will be a clickable link.
Click that link and you will get a pop-up

its-spam There is a multiple choice that pops up in a small window. Select the bottom choice. “it’s Spam” and click continue.(or yours may say “this is a fake account’ please select either one that is available.) You will be noticed that you will never see it again. but trust that you will.

Now go back to that other tab you opened.
Get ready to throw the final blow.
You must mark them as spam

report_sunglassses_spamThis should be the Spammer’s account. Look to the far right hand side of their timeline. There will be a gear. click that gear a and a drop down menu will appear. Select “report Page”. Do this. Report the page. You will then get one more tiny multiple question pop up.
Look somewhere near the middle.
Where you will find it “Report Page”.
Click that.
You will be taken to another prompt.
Which says “Why are you reporting this page”.
You have to do this last step or this was all for nothing
Simple clicks and done.

itsspamorscam Select “it’s Spam or a scam”.

and click “continue”

That’s it, you are done. You have done all you can.

Bookmark/add to favorites this page because the person has a few accounts and you will see them all. If you can, put this page’s link in the comments section of those posts.
Either Facebook will take notice and finally do something, or your friends will at least have a fighting chance at beating this spam.

How to Import Thunderbird Contacts into Outlook

This “How to” I will be using outlook 2010.
Some details in this import do not need to be said. Most of this you can handle with just looking at the pictures and seeing what is highlighted in the images to help you identify the links and buttons I am talking about.
Before any of this, you need to go to Thunderbird and export your contacts. Save the file as a .csv file (comma separated value), with a name you will remember and identify easily. I select to name the file “contacts” and saved the file to desktop so I can find it later.
Here are the steps for exporting Thunderbird contacts to a format that outlook can read

  1. Open Thunderbird, then go to Tools and then Address Book

  2. In the Address Book window, select Tools again and then Export…

  3. In the dropdown menu for Save as type…, choose Comma Separated

  4. Type in a file name (e.g. contacts or addresses), and then click Save.

Not so bad. was it?

Outlook_import_1 Step 1: is pretty easy. Click the image here and see what is highlighted.
On the left hand side of your screen click on the top left where you see “File”. Then Click “Open” just to the right of that and down. Then to the right a tad more and down click on “Import”.
On Outlook 2010 you will see two arrow pointing in opposite directs. Pretty easy to see.
If not, please look at the image I posted here, again.

Outlook_import_2 Step 2: A little window will pop open and have a few choices of your next step. For me and most likely for you the choice should be “import from another program or file”. Should be about midway in the list.
Now click “Next”.
What this means is that the CSV (Comma Separated Value) file you exported from Thunderbird is not a file that is directly out of the outlook “typical” file types. But Outlook will work with the file. You just have a couple steps to take to make outlook understand. These are coming up ahead.

Outlook_import_3 Step 3: Now is where you select “Comma Separated Value (CSV). Click that Should be Third down in the choices. Now click “Next”. Hopefully you save the contact exported csv file under name you can identify and in a location where you can find it. For me the file looks like an Excel file with a big letter X in the left corner and a large capitol A in the middle of it.
I keep thinking this is a Font installer. but it is not.
If you need to got to where you saved the file and open it. It should look just like an excel file with lots of names and email addresses inside of it.

Outlook_import_4 Step 4: is the one that is kind of multiple choice and sort of up to you. Do you want to allow duplicate contacts? because you could have more than one George Bush in your contacts.
If you are uncertain, may I recommend that you allow and then later go through your contacts and remove the duplicates that you feel are unnecessary?
But if you currently have no contacts in your Outlook, then go ahead and select not to allow duplicate contacts.
Seems like the safest bet that way.
Press “Next”

Outlook_import_5 Step 5:  is asking you where you want to import this information. Go ahead and select “contacts and press the “Next” button.
This will transfer a copy of the contacts in the CSV file you exported from Thunderbird, into something that outlook can read.
Almost as if you are uploading and translating the file from opensource format to proprietary format.
Almost…

 

Outlook_import_6 Step 6: this one you have to slow your stroll.
Now you have to work.
It’s not hard work but you do have to work a bit here.
Select ” Map Custom Fields” on the right hand side of the small window. This is about to pop open a window , you just have to match things . Don’t freak out.
Click “Next”

Outlook_import_7 Step 7: You select the fields on the left one by one and match them with the fields on the right.
Choices that are on the left that are not on the right, you either have to improvise or do without.
Like First Name, you have to click the plus symbol (+) next to the word “Name” and when it opens to more choices, select “First Name”.
Do the same with last name. and phone number and email address. and another contact information you can think of that you actually use. If there are choices on the left that you never use,  then you don’t have to worry about the. If you are uncertain, open the file you backed up from Thunderbird and scroll through the columns and you will see what choices are used and what choices are not used and what information is in them. The columns are the same items as what’s in the left hand screen on the “map custom fields” window. The right hand side of that window is how windows sees contacts. You have to make them match. Wikipedia has an Equivalence chart to show you what each mean.

Click next and you are done with this. Your Thunderbird contacts have now been imported into Outlook .

The rest is pretty simple to do and something you can do repeatedly
Also if you are in an office environment, and want all of your employees to start off with the same contacts, may I suggest that you complete these steps with the first computer, then export the contacts in a microsoft format and save it to a portable media storage device of your choice and walk from desk to desk and set them each up?

Comcast Hotspot plan

comcastscamsComcast has a plan to turn your home into a hotspot. It is believed that this will be an “opt in/opt out” program.

Now… remember when Comcast was the first company to put a monthly limit on our internet downloads? and now all of the cell phone carriers have them. I guess that now the trick is to opt in, turn off your modem, connect to neighbor’s…. download entire internet.

see, now you can get around the issue of cloud computing. What is this issue? well it’s where you pay an internet provider to take you to places on the internet. One of the places on the internet, is the place where all of your files are stored. but wait. They aren’t there for free. I mean why would someone convince your to store the crap that you already have stored on a hard drive/flashdrive/dvd/cd somewhere in your house, for free? I mean something you already do, why would they give you that and make it their duty to care for it for free?
So, now you have a limit to how many files you can download a month. but all of your crap is out there in the “Cloud’ (say with spooky ghost fingers) and you can’t get to it. How do you get around this issue next month?

Easy. Go around using up everyone’s file limit each month (file limit that is mythical because the internet is not a bucket that they have to refill like a some mythical servant to a dungeon master) Comcast was busted lying about this right here. so if this is a social experiment to teach us about bandwidth hogs, it is a control experiment guided and leading (misleading).

We all know how this will play out

After the second year “demand so high we have to increase the cost but give you a free button for your shirt says “I get &(**&ed by Comcast”.
and of course that co-worker who always makes bad decisions and stand proud of his Anti-accomplishments will be happy to wear that pin and laugh at you for not having the pin.. These are the typical Comcast users.

Or more people will die quickly because the stranger in the car sitting out in front their house, might just be borrowing internet.

Crazy Woman smashes her own face on laptop in video

crazyLady smashes face on computer and you want to now if it is real.

Facebook current viral video is of a woman in what I suspect is her dining room, just sitting and staring at the laptop camera and she suddenly smashes her face against her laptop. Repeatedly.
Woman in video smashes her face against the computer until her nose is bleeding and forehead is gushing blood.
Here is the link that gets shared on Facebook which is a 9 second cut from the 1.5 minute YouTube video posted below. Watch the Facebook  video first, please.

This video is titled “Girl goes Psycho during make up tutorial” also found as”Woman goes crazy during makeup tutorial” .

It’s fake.
Listen to the sound.
It’s someone beating on a garbage can. Instead of the sound that plastic of a laptop or keyboard makes when you smash it.
The cut on her forehead, notice the lump (you do not knot up that fast, blood has to clot (or fever build)  so the lump is fake, blood pack)…. she had to tilt head back to hide flaw in blood pack.
There is a buzz sound to make you think the microphone in the laptop is damaged when it actually wouldn’t sound like that in a laptop. That is more like an amplifier having an input cable removed, the buzz sound you hear is when a hand grabs the chord and grounds it.
