Email I got from my affiliate program reads as

Farewell and Thank You – TigerDirect US Shutting Down

Dear TruXter budget Tech Review,

Happy New Year! We hope this year is off to a good start for you.

It is difficult to believe it has been over 10 years that TigerDirect has been on the Rakuten Affiliate Network and it is with a heavy heart that we write to you for the final time.

On November 18, 2015, Systemax Inc. and PCM Inc. entered into an agreement for TigerDirect to be acquired by PCM and the acquisition closed on December 1st , 2015. The full details of the announcement are available here:

http://syx.client.shareholder.com/releasedetail.cfm?ReleaseID=945010

As of today, January 14th 2016 the TigerDirect program via Rakuten Linkshare will be suspended and no future commissions will be available. We will be ensuring that all commissions earned prior to this announcement are paid via your regular monthly publisher payments.

We advise you our partners to remove all TigerDirect links, as commissions from this moment on cannot be guaranteed and our support staff to field any questions will be winding down over the coming days.

In closing, it has been our pleasure to have you as our partner. While today is certainly not our favorite as it is indeed an end, every end is also a beginning. Through your help, we have created happy customers and produced sales in excess of numbers too large to comprehend over the past decade. We thank you for being a part of this and wish nothing but the best to come!

Best regards,
The TigerDirect Family

I had been an affiliate with Tiger Direct for more than 5 years.
I have been a customer of Tiger Direct for about 10 years.
And now, the online computer parts store will close.
This coming several years after they bought out Compusa and shut their doors.

I do find a PCM website and they sell computer related items, but they do not look large enough to buy out TigerDirect.com. Who knows how that works

Farewell Compusa, Farewell Tiger Direct.

Hiroshi Yamauchi Dead at 85

Hiroshi
Hiroshi Yamauchi “The” Nintendo guy has passed away.
Cause of death is pneumonia.
location of death at a hospital in central Japan.

He will be missed by many gamers

Some quotes from Hiroshi Yamauchi

I think the game industry is maturing in different ways to those I imagined
Gamers don’t just want beautiful graphics, sounds and epic stories
We cannot guarantee interesting and fun games just by using better technology and increasing the functions of the machines
[People who play RPGs are] “depressed gamers who like to sit alone in their dark rooms and play slow games.”
I have been saying this for some time, but customers are not interested in grand games with higher-quality graphics and sound and epic stories. Only people who do not know the video game business would advocate the release of next-generation machines when people are not interested in cutting-edge technologies

Steam Box here or Vaporware?

Is the steam box something real that we can look forward to? or is the Steam box just vaporware?

Steambox IMHO is not a rational gaming choice for PC gamers. Great for Console gamers. but all of the consoles already have this option.

As a pc gamer, we should be asking “What is the gain of having a machine that built specifically for downloaded games” and then wonder what are the limitations.
Like upgrade capability, Exclusive (proprietary) parts. Like look at apple’s website for the cost of a stick of ram. Ram that is identical to the ram in a windows computer. Will this steam box be the same?

PC gamers, a “pc console” is not a pc.

Story is that Valve has their own machine coming out and it runs on linux. and they are in deals with steam. This in it’s self is a great promising future for pc gaming. So long as I can build my own linux computer and use steam games.

GTA Vice City On Android and Iphone

In celebration of ten years since the release of Grand Theft Auto Vice City, Rockstar games is releasing multiple items for sale in relation to vice city. One of course being the Vice City Game app for Iphone,Ipod,Ipad android devices such as android..
Vice City is the one game that everyone loved to play back in it’s release. In fact, at one time, the gang from MTAVC.COM Modded GTA VC to be a multiplayer video game, when it originally was not. The question I have to ask is, if you take the installer multiplayer modded files, and dragged them into your mobile device, can you get on the multiplayer servers and play MTAVCMobile??

Good question, is ” Will Rockstar games make another funny game like this one? Vice City was the more Humorous of the three games in that set (GTAIII GTAVC and GTASA).
Let’s hope that by the sells numbers from this cell phone app, Rockstar games sees what element in this one, makes it so great

Well none the less. Here’s a quote on Rockstar’s website

To celebrate the 10th anniversary, there will be a series of commemorative assets released, including never-before-seen artwork and a brand new anniversary trailer highlighting some of the most iconic scenes and music from the game. In addition, a limited run of collectable promotional items will be made available for purchase through the Rockstar Warehouse, with select items also available via online giveaways.

In conjunction with the anniversary, we’re pleased to announce that we’ll be releasing an Anniversary Edition of Grand Theft Auto: Vice City for select iOS and Android devices later this fall. This upcoming version will bring the full experience to mobile devices, featuring native high-resolution graphics and several enhancements unique to the iOS and Android platforms. Stay tuned for more details in the weeks ahead including a list of compatible iOS and Android devices.

Also, since Rockstar Games never did a San Andreas Stories, can we go ahead and assume there will me no GTA San Andreas for mobile?

Coca Cola and Android

Coca Cola and Android team up to let you buy a coke for someone in another country, using Google translate to let you send the message you add in the language of their local language.

I guess it all depends on what you consider “the local language”.

It will get exploited.

Black March Has Begun

What is Black March.
The start of the month of no major labels has begun.
This is the month where you as the consumer, are to only make media purchases directly from the musicians. Independent sales from the musician to you.
This tells the major labels who tried to nail us with multiple anti-piracy laws, with the sad fact that they make products and we are the purchasers of the products. If we stop making purchases, then they are just people who make stuff for no reason. They do not make rules or laws that hamper alternative methods of media distribution.

The internet is becoming something beautiful, let’s not let them monetize our greatest world wide resource. Let’s not allow them to hamper our creativity, let’s not allow them to silence our voices.

Please put an effort to participating in Black March

Here are a few sites to visit for great Independent music.

Sony Comment About SOPA

The Narcissist that I am. I look to see who linked to my site and my content. Just to see what people are interested in. and if I know much more on the topic than what I previously posted, I will see what I can do to give readers what they want.
Well I found a link to the Everquest forums on Sony’s website.

This is a moderator’s response to linking to my website and trying to inform people that Sony supports SOPA/PIPA

I’ll just leave this here.

At first read you shrugged a shoulder and thought how pointless this is because it’s a mod.

Read it again. Say that last line out. and listen to yourself saying it. Get it?

Anonymous Retaliation to Megaupload, or is it much more

Yesterday, The Hactivist group Anonymous, took after a large selection of government groups and lawmakers, after site Megaupload owners had been arrested and gathered.

There are videos showing the team from Megaupload, in lines arrested. In one news video, you see someone’s possessions being impounded.

Is this a reaction to Megaupload site owners being arrested, or is this something else?

If you have been watching the whole thing unravel and splatter about, you would know that what happened yesterday and is happening for the rest of this month, is because law enforcement and law makers are actually arresting people for breaking a law that does not exist, because it was fought by the masses, and the means that the officials are using to extradite the “law breakers” is by using a law that was fought and shelved 5 years ago. You can’t prosecute someone for breaking a law that is not a law in their country, if the breaking of your law happened while they were not in your country. Otherwise a large section of the planet will be buried to their neck and have stones chunked at their heads. You can not force your law in a place that does not want that law. Yet….. It is still happening. It says quite a bit about how this country really is.

Could this be what they are doing? Could Anonymous really have a logical motive other than spoiled pirate brats, who just want free stuff? I like to think so. Mega upload is a fast server, and is used to more than pirating. And the site owners should not be held responsible for not being able to keep up with millions of users. That’s one of the things we fought sopa for.
I would like to think they are willing to pay to sit a theater with amazing sound and a massive screen.Rather than download some shotty video made with a camcorder in a theater. If the quality of movies was worth the fee. Until the movie industry stop producing mind numbingly stupid movies, they will continue to lose people who are not willing to pay to see the movies they produce. and this might mean, not seeing the movie at all.
