Blizzard to End cheats

Yeah right. They could, they never will.
unless they charge so much that you wouldn’t want to waste your money when you get banned.
but that much money, the games really aren’t worth it.

Blizzard declares war on Battle.net cheats
The Warcraft III developer shutters nearly 300,000 accounts tied to illicit programs.

In what might be one of the biggest cheat purges ever, Blizzard today closed 282,000 Battle.net accounts associated with game hacks and illicit programs. “In keeping with our aggressive stance against cheating,” said a post on Battle.net, “we have permanently closed 263,000 StarCraft accounts and 19,000 Warcraft III accounts.”

In addition, Blizzard permanently banned 1,100 Warcraft III CD keys used with the shuttered accounts and forbade another 8,000 from ladder play for one month. “Repeat offenders risk having their CD keys disabled, which will result in the permanent removal of their copies of StarCraft or Warcraft III from Battle.net,” said Blizzard, which also issued a stark warning to would-be cheats: “We will continue to monitor Battle.net for cheating and take action as needed.”

Blizzard’s actions are the latest in an ongoing anticheat offensive by developers of online games. At the end of January, DICE included Punkbuster anticheating software in the v1.6.19 patch for its ultrapopular online WWII shooter Battlefield 1942.

eBay and Nigerian Scam

For starts, I was selling a PlayStation Portable on eBay.

Total went all the way to $150, the total was increased to 152. The winning bidder of this auction that was specified as U.S. only and PayPal only, decided to tell me to send the item to his/her son in Nigeria. I send a request to eBay to inspect the account and stated the situation. of course eBay screwed it up by canceling my auction and sending me an email that says I owe $2.

Great.

Well I did a search for  “john_milo500@yahoo.com” and removed the 500 and put a space between and after  the @ symbol.

Found his name came up a few times.  Sooooo I went to Self Destruct Email and sent him a few messages. One from Nigerian police, one from Internet police, one from international police, and another from the Wal-Mart security association. just for kicks.

The Wal-Mart one told him of hordes of overweight grannies storming his village in golf carts .

I also sent a threat of explosives possibly being in one of seven packages intercepted by us.

I have no idea what to with this dude just yet.

The guy is steadily sending me these emails.

Google retires AdSense referral system

I have used AdSense for a long while now. I have yet for one person to join the AdSense program through a referral link on my site. At least not reported. Then again, none of the affiliate programs I have ever signed to have let me know that anyone used my link. I do know that when i am looking fro a new advertiser for my site, I do check into the “hey try us” links. Can we trust DoubleClick yet?

But as the title stated, here is the email I received today:

Hello,

Thank you for participating in the AdSense Referrals program. We’re writing to let you know that we will be retiring the AdSense Referrals program during the last week of August. We appreciate your patience during this transition and here are some alternative options to consider:

* Google Affiliate Network: As part of the integration of DoubleClick, the DoubleClick Performics Affiliate Network will now operate as the Google Affiliate Network for advertisers targeting users located in the United States. Similar to the AdSense Referrals program, the Google Affiliate Network enables publishers to apply for advertiser programs and get paid based on advertiser-defined actions instead of clicks or impressions. For further details, please visit this site. *AdSense for content ads: If you have less than three AdSense for content ad units on a page, you may wish to replace the referral ad units with standard AFC ad units.

If you currently use referral ads, either to promote Google products or offerings from AdWords advertisers, AdSense Referrals code will no longer display ads beginning the last week of August. We encourage you to take the following steps before the product is retired:

* Remove the referral code from your site(s): Please take a moment to remove all referral code from your sites before the last week of August, so you can continue to effectively monetize your ad space. * Run and save all referrals reports on your desktop: Create and save all reports related to the referrals program on your desktop, so you continue to have access to your valuable campaign information

Why is this happening? We’re constantly looking for ways to improve AdSense by developing and supporting features which drive the best monetization results for our publishers. Sometimes, this requires retiring existing features so we can focus our efforts on the ones that will be most effective in the long term. For this reason, we will be retiring the AdSense Referrals program. If you have any additional questions, please visit our Help Center.

Sincerely.

The Google AdSense Team

Email preferences: You have received this mandatory email service announcement to update you about the retirement of an AdSense feature.

Looks like that side money will not be coming, even if it never came anyway.

Rising Truth About Gas Prices

I’m pretty fed up with gas prices. I’m quite sure you are also. We watch the gas prices in hopes of relief. We look everywhere for a good idea on how to save money, or get better gas mileage. I know kind of the same thing. Okay, a lot of the same thing. Really the only that will work is for gas prices to drop down to its actual value. At the rate gas prices used to rise, we should be paying $1.89 a gallon here in Houston. But we are not.

In Houston we all received notice that the state is buying up all old cars. They are offering car lots $3000 for each car they recycle. They want everyone with an old car to bring it in and recycle it by getting a $3000 value trade on a new car. Sounds sweet right?

Not if you only have $2500 and nothing to trade in.

I do know that an ’86 Accord and a ’60-something VW Beetle get better gas mileage than the better of our current “hybrids” being sold to the public at $45 grand. I am not saying that the government has a huge conspiracy or something to hate people it doesn’t ever see. The lower class folks.

What I am saying is the government forgets simple factors because they have never been the lower class.

it’s illegal to run our own oil refineries in the USA.

Texas is not covered in oil wells. I have lived here my whole life. Never seen one before, ever.

Every time there is something in media that tells you how outrageous the gas prices are in another country, our gas price goes up 15 cents. Every time we hear that gas prices are going down, it drops one third the latest gas gouge only to go back up to the gouge prices.

If we are paying $4 a gallon we are told that we are getting relief by a 15 cent price drop. Yes on a full tank that will save me a whole 1.80, about the price that one gallon of gas should be. Isn’t that amazing? I got a whole gallon. Didn’t I?

Are we too civilized to react?

What killed Tech Evolution

Ok I understand that if someone wants to sell their work.

They want to be the only person making money on it. And they do not want people to be able to get the software for free. I mean why buy the cow…..

But have you noticed, no one does anything anymore.

Everyone is scared of getting arrested for tweaking files and programs. I mean the past ten years have been amazing in software development. Now it’s just down to a trickle. We aren’t moving faster and faster every time we check, anymore. Those days are gone. Kids now are scared to mod psp software because those who do and show others, get silenced fast.

i mean the most I learned was when I was wanting to make my purchased items better. Like over clocking, there are no over clocking forums left but one or two . I mean back when everyone was tweaking and modding their Xbox, we where learning so much from each other. We where passing notes and moving faster and faster. People emulated machines. Sony killed that when they created psp addons and called them “Emulators” . If you did any searches on the net for “emulator tips” you would find stupid junk that showed you how to change your back ground on your psp. I mean they did that very well I have to give them props. But my god, if it wasn’t for people modding the psp… Sony would have no idea what firmware to add to the stupid battery chugger.

So now you just have to sit around and wait on sony to tell you what’s good.

We are getting dumber by the minute. Don’t bother asking any kids these days how to play a 360 game on a computer. They flip out and tell you you need a decompresser… blah blah blah.. It’s software.

“Encoded” means YOU think it’s unbreakable.

Where is the crowd of people who inspired others to get upset with the useless crap bundled in our gadgets?

What happened to everyone? I feel like it’s becoming a TiVo/Apple world. Where everyone just sits with their mouth open waiting to be given what ever there is to fill it.. And we like it.

Was it laziness? Did the really tech gen just get old and walk away?

Am I a dinosaur? Did everyone stop caring what it is inside their gadget that rattles when you shake it?

Is the new generation the fat gen?

Ps: Don’t share other people’s works. But share the mods you made to make them better.

Custom built computer (Jewel box Project)

Today I was Clicking around in the G4 forums. You know , Looking for game news.

Well I stumbled upon a thread that caught my eye . They guy seems to have built a

Complete custom pc case with the idea of it looking like a Jewel Box.  Look at the way he navigates the air through that thing. and the heatsinks he has all over everything. I mean the video card has the same heatsink as the processor. Amazing.

He has this thing designed to a T. Except two things. The second platform has no front support, and the build just looks kind of retro ugly. But the way it looks does not mean squat. I am 100% for the cooling it has.

here is the complete project

I have to say.

very good job man.
