How I Re-enabled Flash on FireFox

In a previous post you see I explain why killing Flash is bad. So this post is to show how I enabled my Flash  on firefox (which Is a bit of a task because I have to careful and accountable for my actions, so I do not recommend you try this)
I got sick of accepting flash on every single website I went to. Flas is in website ads used by Google and other Advertisers, so the notice came up on every single website I traveled to. This is an annoyance. Well I solved taht issue, and this is how.
I opened Mozilla FireFox and typed this in the address bar
about:config
Then I pressed enter.
Then in the search box I typed
blocklist

When the list of items with “blocklist” in their title populated, I look for
extensions.blocklist.enabled
I right click that line  and change it’s status from “True” to “False” (this was a temporary fix. Read the update below)
enableflash
Then go to my list of plugins and check their status and see if all of my plug ins are up to date. Then update all plug ins.

I am currently looking for a way to change the items in the blocklist so that I can exclude Flash.

**update**
From that same blocklist (search results posted above), you will see there are 2 blocklist URLs. The longer of the two is the one that I downloaded and saved to my documents folder.

Now say “C:\Users\TRUXTER\Documents\%DAYS_SINCE_LAST_PING%.xml”

I told firefox to check there for the blocklist. Next, I edited the XML file in notepad++ and stripped out all valid Flash descriptions and left the known virus ones that aren’t really flash Or what looked like Firefox is blocking a real phishing site.

Changed blocklist status back to enabled/true.
Rebooted Firefox and and began surfing the internet and flash is working fine again.

Double checked my plugins and everything is fine again

Only issue is I have no idea if this will go back to normal when Firefox quits this stupid game and puts things back to normal.

I would upload this and let you all download the edited one but I don’t want any liability for anything you do, so I am not advising you try this at all. Just telling you what I did. It wasn’t a whole lot of work, just about 3 minutes of hitting “find next” and deleting lines out. From opening bracket to closing brackets.

Firefox looks like Chrome now

Never thought I would see the day that Firefox tries to look like another web browser.

I guess that is what happens when you are getting slaughtered by all of the newbies wanting what the “old people” don’t use.

Too bad kids don’t realize how much wisdom comes with age, they will soon enough when they see the next group of kids doing something dumb and pointless.
The tabs is the mozilla foundation creation. So they aren’t ripping chrome off, they are just copying something copied from them already.

Just hope that Mozilla/Firefox team does not put the big ugly blue windows Xp looking border on the browser like Chrome has.

These two look like great phone operating systems. The Ubunto phone though surely has more developers and would most likely have a greater chance of surviving the market. but if the Firefox phone makes it out to enough people in the market, we could see a huge drop in phone prices and an increase in advertisement (sponsored by) but the question I have is “Does the firefox phone run on a Linux kernel?”. If this is a fact then lots of my fears of Microsoft and Apple consuming Linux, can be put to rest. Unless the Linux group is building up (fattening up) the market for sell off.

but that has very little to do with phones.

Sorry I didn,t have anything to write so I popped out opinions. These phones look like they will be great options/alternatives over the big three. Sorry rim lovers, you don’t make the list.

FireFox 12 Sucks

Firefox 12 is acting like Chrome now.
It’s locking up, not closing, freezing while navigating. but doesn’t do the facebook profile picture glitch that chrome does. but still, Firefox 12 is freezing up on me.

Hurry up gang, send out another update.

Speaking of update… why is it that Firefox team offers the beta version option? I mean isn’t it all beta anyway ?

Somewhere Between Firefox and Facebook
What this is in relation to is, Spell-check.
I have been running into this issue since firefox 3.
I’m on Facebook, I’m typing a message, staring at my fingers because I can’t type. I look up and see a mess load of error in my spelling. Everything is underlined in squiggly red, so I right click each spelling error, select the word that is the proper spelling of my typo. Correct all of my spelling errors. I press send. Look back up at the post, and all of the errors are back.
What?
Why?
Why does this happen? what is causing all of my typos to reappear?
I have found one way around the issue is after I type my message and fix the spelling errors is if I put a smiley face or a frowny face or what ever is closest to the mood of the post, emote after the post, the issue is does not came up.
Firefox, you need to kick facebook in the crotch for us, or facebook, kick firefox in the crotch, or both commence to sac kicking.

firefox and facebook do not agree on the spell check feature that firefox has? Or does firefox just want to prove that all facebook users are idiot? Does facebook want to prove that all firefox users are idiot?
I know this issue happens on the work computer, the home computer and the laptop.
FIX YOUR FREAKING SPELL CHECK!

Firefox 5 is a Thud

Firefox 5 while it looks pretty and has some real nice Chrome rip off looks to it. Wait isnt the plug in section for Firefox called “chrome”? hasn’t it been called Chrome for well over a decade now?
Well anyway, Firefox 5 looks like a netscape+chrome merger. Well it kind of is.
The one part about Firefox 5 that I absolutely hate is, the browser shut off my incompatible extensions. Firefox 5 didn’t suspend with the option of updating and using the new ones. I had to uninstall the dang extensions and reinstall them. Of course some stuff will be incompatible right after a recent update, but why can’t we just update the extensions and continue to use them?
Why does firefox 5 lock up on me so much? firefox 5 locks up on my dell computer at work using windows xp and my home made computer at home running windows 7.I have to use chrome now, until the Mozilla team gets their stuff together.
I would love to use my custom toolbar again.
Firefox five locks up when I upload images. If I upload images here on my site, or when I upload a picture to twitpic and firefox 5 locks up when I upload a picture to facebook. It’s not locking up while the file is in transfer, but it locks during the process of looking for the file to upload.
I guess that beats the crashes I was constantly seeing in firefox 3.

Mozilla Firefox 5.0 is out today.
Just released.
So far Conduit toolbars do not work with 5 yet.
They will. in due time.

The firefox web browser is the latest and current longest running web browser by mozilla as of now. The firefox web browser now has just as much competition as the mozilla browser had back in the day when mozilla was the best alternative web browser.

 

So far I give the firefox web browser a 8/10 for the small amount of testing I have been able to perform as of now.

First Impressions of Firefox 4

Right off, Firefox 4 looks a bit like Google Chrome.
My home computer didn’t do what my work computer did when I upgraded to Firefox 4. My work computer When I upgraded to Firefox 4 all of the menu items in my browser disappeared. Lost my back button, lost my refresh button, Lost my home button, but all of that was restored by going into view, toolbars, customize. I then brought everything back. Could be because my work computer is Windows Xp and my home computer is Windows 7. My work computer also lost my Conduit toolbar while my Windows 7 computer at home did not.

After some usage, I really like the way the tabs move in Firefox 4 as you open and close them. The look of Firefox 4 stops looking so much like Google chrome and more traditional Firefox.and it seems to fix the crashing I was seeing on twitter when I used the older version of firefox web browser.
Not a bad web browser.

For years I used Netscape 7.2 Suite and then seamonkey, meanwhile using Mozilla and then firefox. I tried later to use Google Chrome. It’s ok. Just not quite what I am looking for, though Google Chrome does have a great intelligence behind it. I just can’t get attached to using Google chrome. It’s good though.

But the one web browser I can not let go of, is called K-Meleon . K-Meleon used to be Linux only. but the new K-meleon for Windows is now built on the Mozilla Code. When you try and set up your email button, you are in for a cool simplified email set up. It’s fun. and easy.

Sorry I will not use explorer.

FireFox Tabs Chrome Tabs and Explorer Tabs

Tabs, tabs and more tabs.
So many tabs tips all over cnet videos and every browser is migrating there. Even Mozilla Thunderbird email client defaults to opening new emails in a tab.
I personally do not care for tabs.
Tabs for me are dividers between sections, not easy clickers for a page.
We have tabs on Firefox, Explorer, Chrome and any other lesser web browser that you preffer. We are now even getting tabs with in our web pages and in media player.
ENOUGH WITH THE DARN TABS.
I am surprised that Notepad still looks like it did when it first came out.
I am surprised no one has capitalized on tabs and decided to make a book writing format taht allows people to open one file with the chapters on each page and the pages to open in the browser by tabs allowing people to surf and feel like they are reading a real book. Then a tab would seem logical to me.
