WordPress 3.3 Makes Changes

The New WordPress 3.3 has made some changes
Lots of changes. It looks as if the folks from WordPress have brought the top toolbar we just recently got, and added it to the side left menu we always had. This look a bit sleeker.
I am quite please with wordpress 3.3 , Even though I had a tiny panic attack and a bad hiccup on the update.

New Media Feature

New Media Feature

There is an updated media feature that allows you to drag and drop the files you are uploading, instead of searching all around your computer for them. I really wasn’t too bothered with the browse button.

The single media icon now launches the uploader
for all file types, and the new drag and drop
interface makes uploading a breeze.

I See the latest wordpress update also changed, the spot that you select image thumbnail sizes from when you are placing pictures on your website. Nothing big enough for me to need to take a screenshot for. you will see the option in your menu when you get around to it.
They added a “View Post” in the toolbar at the top of the screen that they nearly stripped for the menu on the left. In doing that, they removed the option to click your site’s name at the top of the page, to take you to your home page.

After that…. Meh.. nice. looks great. bit large and slow… but ok.
wordpress updated. We are now using wordpress 3.3. Plenty of nice looking features… ok two.. maybe three, bu they aren’t super useful, they kinda just force you to look for stuff.

My Top Pick SEO Ranking Toolbars

My Top Pick SEO Ranking Toolbars
I have been watching the stats on my sites and sites that I work on, for quite some time. For the longest time I was using my own website, a little spot that allowed me to type in any website address and see statistics, like page rank, traffic details, and such. Just so I know if I am targeting traffic properly. With in 20 minutes of checking sites, I have so many tabs and windows open, I can actually sample Alzheimer’s. I just suddenly start forgetting steps and it gets worse as I go along.
So I had to do some searching. In my search for the perfect or best Seo toolbar for my web browser I sampled a bunch of toolbars that just either got dropped by the creators and no longer worked, or just didn’t really do much. Many of the toolbars seem to have done stuff like checking statistics from other websites that show website statistics, but did not like the method this person used, so the toolbars were all blocked.
Now, I have found three SEO toolbars that are a must have, and made one of my one that is a “cool to have”, for Seo statistics. Mine is just a jumble of stuff I found on the web, so , I don’t deserve any praise for the efforts other than updating.

Let’s get to this.

SEOQuake is the ultimate Toolbar for Seo information, from Serp, to alexa rank, back links, in links and a few more options that you have to find in the settings area.
Quirk Runs at the bottom of your browser window, gives you four statistics and does ot take up much real estate.
Alexa Toolbar straight from Alexa themselves
Mine allows you to check multiple websites at one time. Comes with some tech podcasts to listen to. Note the radio player at the top.

Don’t for get to watch your SERP, page rank and alexa ranking, these all matter.

As of the date of this post, these toolbars have the latest fix for google page rank checking.

Firefox 5 is a Thud

Firefox 5 while it looks pretty and has some real nice Chrome rip off looks to it. Wait isnt the plug in section for Firefox called “chrome”? hasn’t it been called Chrome for well over a decade now?
Well anyway, Firefox 5 looks like a netscape+chrome merger. Well it kind of is.
The one part about Firefox 5 that I absolutely hate is, the browser shut off my incompatible extensions. Firefox 5 didn’t suspend with the option of updating and using the new ones. I had to uninstall the dang extensions and reinstall them. Of course some stuff will be incompatible right after a recent update, but why can’t we just update the extensions and continue to use them?
Why does firefox 5 lock up on me so much? firefox 5 locks up on my dell computer at work using windows xp and my home made computer at home running windows 7.I have to use chrome now, until the Mozilla team gets their stuff together.
I would love to use my custom toolbar again.
Firefox five locks up when I upload images. If I upload images here on my site, or when I upload a picture to twitpic and firefox 5 locks up when I upload a picture to facebook. It’s not locking up while the file is in transfer, but it locks during the process of looking for the file to upload.
I guess that beats the crashes I was constantly seeing in firefox 3.

Selecting The Best Online Advertising

If you own your own company and have yourself a website that needs more traffic from more customers, then you might want to look into online advertising. With that you may also want to consider being on as many websites as possible, to draw traffic to your website to possibly look at your items for sell.
To best figure out what advertising affiliate to select, do a search using Google and another search using Bing, do three searches of three totally different topics, click the top three results in each search engine and pay close attention to what company is used to supply advertisements to the pages you landed on.
In the end you have looked at 27 pages of the 27 pages one advertising company should show up more than the rest. Usually you can tell what advertising company they use by looking around the border of the images, Some of Google’s ads you may have to wave your mouse over them to see who it is that is used for the affiliate program.
What ever Affiliate program you see the most of, use them.
I prefer to use Google Adwords for the people and companies I build websites for, simply because Adwords is owned and ran by Google. If you do a search in Google, typically the top three links in search results, will be paid results through Adwords. This gets the resulting website more attention than a site that is not listed in the top three.
You would not believe how many people do not know that.
Bing does the same thing, with the search results. but so far I have not found a way to advertise bing ads on my website. This of course reduces the number of websites available to display your ads. Just the opposite with other affiliate companies, most other affiliate companies do not have their own search engine. If they do, I have never heard of it.
If you have no idea how to find the sites related to the ads, typically you can click on the “Advertise here” link and that will take you into the account creation, and just select to not just advertise on that page. Customize your whole ad display yourself and you should be fine. With Google ads you can just go to adwords.com that will take you to the account set up.
Now you can try the low budget advertising affiliates if you just do not have enough to spend. it would probably be in your best interest.. Kinda. Google’s fees are more than competitive and their system is pretty well worked out to prevent people from scamming the advertisers. Some of the other sites have pretty loose protection plans for the customers. Ever get a million pop ups? They have never been Google pop ups.
Facebook ads work great if you are selling nice looking sun glasses, or shoes or rims. After that, Facebook ads are worthless and cost way to much for very little results. People on Facebook are not looking for anything other than chatting with their friends. People in search engines, are looking for something. Although Facebook Contextual advertising, is a pretty close second to Google Contextual advertising. Now that is the best creation that Google ever had. Want to target customers? Make sure your ads are in relation to the content on the website they are at. So use your tags well.
There is a horrible downside to Facebook ads, is that there are far too many click farms that frequent Facebook who are there just to click ads of any product that is not the product their company is promoting. What this means is that every click on Facebook ads that you have displayed, costs you money. When enough clicks happen you run out of money and another ad takes it’s place. Eventually the product that the click bank is advertising becomes a more dominant ad. Facebook used to be a great place to market your product, but those days are long gone unless you have the money to buy the services of a click farm. Which most of us do not.
Here’s a video that somewhat covers how Facebook ads are worthless
Here is a definition of a click farm.
Here is an idea how the advertisers work.
Good luck.

How Bing Could Squash Google

Adsense. What is the easiest way Google makes certain their people who pay to be in the search engine get seen ? they share the wealth.
Bing has yet to even begin to try that. all they have to do is make an affiliate program to share the adverts with the websites out there.
Totally remove the whole Silverlight program. That and adobe air have got to be the clunkiest pieces of garbage. I don’t care how you improve it. A perfect turd is still a turd. Quit forcing people to hold that turd. I don’t want it in my computer, I don’t want a turd in my hand. Simply put, If I have to install that program to use your software, I will stop using your software.

Get yahoo off of Clicksor. I used to clicksor with all sorts of hopes of having an alternative to the goliath. I never made one red cent. Not one penny. I had a relative call me and tell me they clicked some ad on my old site, they said they bought something from one of the ads and never got their product. They thought I controlled it all. Clicksor never even noted the click. I did not tell my relative 700 miles away to click it. it was months later when I found out they did. Once they got tired of waiting for their products.
Clicksor then dropped me and said I didn’t have enough traffic. I had 200-2000 people a day. It fluctuated.

So having yahoo tied into something like that, surely isn’t helping them at all. Having a program where websites serve their ads for them will profit Bing and the website owners and would allow competition to Google’s adsense. Truth is adsense needs competition, they are getting a bit diva/spoiled princess.

When a person uses a search engine, they don’t want to be told how to search. People do searches like they think. They type it like they expect it to work. Not like they are told a search engine should be. Bing can do this if they just look at the most common searches. They all look like a question. Bing has this information. Google has this information. Yahoo, I have no idea why yahoo quit like that.

If you have suggestions for Bing or Yahoo post them here in a response.
