Verizon or Netflix throttling video streaming

So a guy decided to use a proxy (which he says is a vpn… but okay) to connect to Netflix to see if he can get his videos to stream faster.

This being his internet provider, which is Verizon is accused of slowing down video streaming via Netflix.
and Verizon is accusing Netflix of throttling the videos . (throttling means slowing down the downloads of media)

One of these two services is kind of “slowing down productivity” for a greedy motive.

This video could very well verify that someone is throttling the streaming speeds. Or the guy that uploaded it is a troll.

Throttling is illegal. been deemed illegal for a good five years. Consider it to be something that can be used for extortion. and here we have another problem.
Verizon and Comcast and a few other ISPs are pushing against Net Neutrality to enforce a “fast lane” streaming for companies that only allows fast streaming to their customers only available to websites that pay for “Fast lane”.

Meaning you pay your ISP for fast internet. It comes out of your pocket from your hard earned money. The video is on a site that pays their host for fast uploads so people can stream movies and music at fast speed. Now your ISP thinks they deserve money from the people streaming the video and you, or you will not be able to see the video any faster than the guy who pays less for a slower internet connection.

This is unfair to their customers and to the website owners/people streaming the videos. Such as Netflix or Youtube and the like. This wouldn’t even be fair if the ISP decided to charge everyone the same rate and give them the exact same speed at a super discount, then charge Netflix and youtube the difference. because… Netflix and youtube are already paying for their consumption through their host and their hosts ISP…

Streaming Media Package

Ever just want to watch what you want to watch when you want to watch it? I do. I fell in love with Joost when it came out. Then some comic company or what ever that was, bought out Joost and crushed it. During that same time, HULU came out and became a sensation instantly. Forever I have been looking for a Hulu app for android. Haven’t found that yet.
Netflix, well netflix has been around for a good while now. I have not yet used netflix for anything. Simply because I haven’t see anything on their site that I wanted to download, that I couldn’t already get at HULU or Redbox. If redbox would stream, we are looking at a whole new mess.
Don’t get me wrong, netflix is an innovation and creativity that moves us into another direction, and I am thankful for what they are doing. Maybe I have just been using their site wrong? Do they have more than 50 movies? because that’s about all I see there. And they are all low budget films that I find. Why would I want that?
but if you are a Netflix user then My latest sponsor is going to be a treat for you. how about a device that you plug directly into your Television set, and connect to your internet connection, and get streaming videos from netflix, hulu, amazon, last.fm and other stuff.
Roku + Netflix = Instant Movies on your TV.Starting at $59.99 with 30-Day Money Back Guarantee.
I looked on their site and a lot of the stuff they list, kind of looks like a double listing of the same thing, just with the word “pro’ added to the end. Yeah that kind of makes my eye twitch.
But still the whole concept is pretty cool. If your tv can’t already do all of this. Many kind of can already. but again, if you don’t want to spend $700 on a 46 inch tv that can stream media from the internet, then get the roku box. If you don’t already have a netflix account, then you may as well go ahead and open the link I have over there on the side bar (the red ad that says netflix) in another tab and get that ready. Can’t hurt to set up for the free trial they have. and if you see they have more than 50 videos, tell me how the heck you found them.
The roku box comes in three flavors right now HD $59,XD $79,XS $99. Great prices. No clue why you would want anything other than the $59 player. For $100 it better comes with a TV tray and a remote.
From the look of the device, The roku box is small enough to fit inside a hollowed out grapefruit. That’s a kind of small. The look of the Media Streaming device is pretty slick. Currently the only color is black. I am sure it will come in other colors, once everyone knows that apple wont sue people for creating anything remotely close to their inventions. Oh hey I know what it looks like. The smokeless ashtrays of the early nineties. Just without all of the ventilation around it.
Looks like you can get all sorts of Media streaming to your TV. They call them channels, hmm I dunno, sounds more like websites to me. But currently it looks like about 12 “Channels”. This is a great way to watch internet videos you normally watch on your computer, straight through your tv.

Netflix and Godaddy

Should both Netflix and Godaddy really be crammed down our throats every time we boot up our computers?
Have you ever been to their sites?
Netflix, they sponsor every dang podcast I listen to and every online video I watch. (well not all but many). Have you ever looked at the shows they offer on Netflix? I mean even Redbox has a larger, better and higher quality selection than Netflix. I truly do not like Redbox. I stop there all the time, smear my snot on the screen as I flip through the first page or so of videos and walk away feeling ashamed I did it again. Heck the Redbox movies are just a dollar and I can get up, grab one movie and be back home watching it, before it ever even comes out on Netflix. If it shows up there. mean while you hog up all of the bandwidth using Netflix and your spouse is mad and your kids are mad.

Godaddy. You ever decide you want to buy a domain name? Ever find that someone bought that domain name but never did anything with it? Yeah that person is typically on Godaddy. It’s like everyone found a place that has a known name and decided to buy from there. Kind of like Walmart. Everyone knows it’s there and the people that shop there, have no idea why you call their stuff crap. Well the people who buy up domain names and do nothing with them are called “squatters”. That name sounds a bit negative, right? Of course it does. It’s meant to. I mean you have a great idea for that domain name and that jerk has 700 domain names and does nothing with them. One of his domain names you have a brilliant idea and are not able to use it now. Now your Websitedesigner dot what ever domain name has to be 1websitedeigner1 dot what ever is available.

Cool they have a domain auction section on their site. That just further provokes even more people to just buy up random named domain names and sell them at scary high prices. Meanwhile their prices are no better than other domain registrars.

Would be nice if the ads would just lay up or be in relevant media.

What’s more likely to happen, I will end up renting a Netflix movie and find a Godaddy commercial at the beginning. Or register with godaddy and find a netflix ad in some banner I can’t remove from my site.

Have a difference of opinion? Reply.

Zane Savage on Apple TV

Makes Sense to me.

This device is a DOWNGRADE for anyone who currently owns an Apple TV. I like the price, I just don’t like the hardware.

Very Well put.
I like my media I want my media.
Least they can do is sell some of the New apple tvs come with multiple usb ports, That way you can watch home videos without needing yet another device hooked up to your television.
It looks cool. The concept is good. but the full end delivery is not up to my likings either.
Maybe they should call it the mini or the “budget apple tv” Wait, net flicks on apple???
but they don’t let anyone on their stuff right? Apple is screwy and it trips me out what mac people think is acceptable.
