T-Mobile G2 is Coming

As a user of the G1 Cell phone I am an enthusiast in the sense I have never hack cracked or modded my original android phone. And by my excitement in posting this you should clearly see I am excited and ready for the G2 cell phone to come my way. We all wanted the G2 when the second android phone was announced, even though we knew that was far to early to make a sequel to the G1 phone.
Then came the 2.1 Firmware for all of the droids. G1 was not on the list of phones that would not automatically get the update. Then came 2.2 firmware. When the top android firmware cracker (lol) released an update on his progress, he was sent a cease notice from google themselves. Really? open source cease? It turns out there was bundled software that Google owns the copyright to, in that firmware. So the guy had to start over. It was looking pretty gloomy for the G1 users by that time.

Until we got this message.

T-Mobile surprised their remaining G-1 users this morning with a text message that simply said

456: FREE T-MOBILE MSG: You heard it first: G2 is coming, and it’s fast. Finally, the best of Google at speeds you crave. Get exclusive access at G2.t-mobile.com

”
And well as a G1 enthusiast, I jumped on the chance to look.
At the same time, a lady from the office I work in, she was looking at the page at the same time. About 50 feet from my office. I closed my browser to tweet it, no one was tweeting it. So I did. Then I went back to that page. Sure enough, the page was gone.
But the lady from my office still had her browser open to the page. I nabbed a screen shot :-)

This clearly is a big launch. There obviously is a high number of those who at least want to see this dang G2 phone.
From that picture of the G2 page I have there, you can easily see that that specific model of a G2 is not a slide and does not have a full functional keyboard. Making the Android pilot ship rerun, just another droid. I am assuming it is so the G1 users feel they are not left out due to the inability to run droid 2.2

The Seo Book We Should All Have

A good friend I know (I reference tons of stuff to her website) Alicia Crowder,  has a book out now called “SEO Standards for Beginners“.
If you are a web designer of new or professional status, this book is under $10 and a quick read. I assure you, there will be something in there that changes your knowledge about Search engine optimization.

This book will help you in your quest to get to the front page of search engines like Google, Yahoo, Bing and the huge string of other search engines.

It would be foolish of a professional Search Engine Optimization person to pass up on a chance to find things they have been overlooking, to find things they never knew. Or to ever assume they know it all.

Go get Seo Standards for Beginners. It will be well worth your effort. Trust it is not just for beginners, I’m certain there is something for everyone in this book. I will be ordering mine Friday.

Useful Tech Toolbar

Made a toolbar. It has a couple boredom games. Of course :-) .

Also has a few essential links to free virus scanners. Just look at the “Clean Machine” Section. These are very important when it comes to cleaning up a hijacked computer.

Added a few radio stations. It’s the stuff i listen to when deep into my work.

Also added a few podcasts about tech related content.

There is an SEO tools section. This section is still new so please  send me link you want added.

How to delete facebook accounts

There is a large number of techies talking about closing their Facebook accounts. I myself closed my account twice now. Both times it was right there when I logged in again. It was as if it was just paused for a little while. It’s very much not like WordPress. On WordPress if you close an account, you can never bring it back. No one can re-use that name, it is completely over at that point.

There are a few places talking about how to close the accounts. I personally do not think either will work.

Rumor has it that if you mention any of this on facebook, your post will get deleted. If you post it again your account will get deleted. That to me sounds like the only way to get your account deleted properly. :-) . Just be sure to clean everything off your account first.

Really? Everyone is shunning Facebook and bashing it? You are throwing a tantrum because the owners of Facebook are making this “Social Network” a tad bit closer to actually being social? You people are getting really pathetic. The same in crowd hipster doofuses that like to bring things up and break it down because you already used it so now it’s not cool …. douchebags.

Sorry to say it but you are being unreal. I hate facebook because their functionality is complete utter garbage. I am not throwing a tantrum about how they are making their social site actually become social. In fact I have forever hated the fact that people call it a social network yet you can’t meet someone. They have to know you before they can add you. There is nothing social about that.

So My only conclusion is that you people are being complete total hipster wannabes with huge antisocial-subconscious wanting to further recluse and separate yourself from the world even further. You clearly are not the early adapter first gen of the tech world who of course jumped on Facebook the moment it opened to the public. Those people are gone or have learned to accept it for what it was and just opened their profile to the public manually.

You are the same group that made a huge move for Myspace to lock the children separate from the adults. But said nothing when the games on Myspace came out and the kids wanted more game buddies so they opened their profiles and started adding all of the dirty old farts in greasy neck shirts, just because they want one more person in their mafia farming their vampires or what ever. Luckily Myspace consumed it’s ownself by releasing those games and making the adults get sick and leave the place. Now the only thing there is the kids who play the games and the trash hunting them.

If you shut up and stop drawing attention to Facebook, it will consume it’s self next, they are bringing in all the same games.

How about you go after that video chat that requests you to talk to strangers? Make a movement that is worth something. You geeks are just bashing for a current trend. Trendy geeks, I have no other defining words for you.. Well I do but hey.

Kazaa is Back

Kazaa?

Editing the tech Review portion of the site here (changing advertisers) I see something freaky weird popped into view. Kazaa being advertised on Google. The real Kazaa. The link worked and everything. I am not going to link to the second largest pirating site ever. Heck no, not from my site. but i will tell you they are back, and they are asking for no money in return.

Question is, is it indie labled bands? are these bands going to make money from the traffice revenue of the adverts that kazaa gets?

I remember kazaa used to be bundled and hammers in  advertisement. Those guys had to have raked in a huge amount of money from the traffic generated by their program.

Did someone buy them out or just buy  the domain name and decide to bring it back or are they going Napster (the first biggest p2p site) and just give free music for a short while per each sign up and then charge after a few months ?

How will they compensate the music labels ? are they going to create their own music label?

I have no idea, will stay away from that site. Sheesh I hope they stop advertising on my site. unless they are legit. Then i am cool with it.

Really I haven’t been to the site in years, actually i think I could find the program on cnet, it’s where they linked the file anyway. They never covered their own bandwidth.

The Splatter Of Tech Podcast

The tech podcast world is down to just Leo Laporte and TWIT.TV. 100s of tech podcasts done in audio only, have fallen to the side and called it quits. When we were all hoping for a new change in media, a tech Media news outlet like no other media outlet. We have a cry of failure.
it seems we are losing out on Audio podcasts. No more days dredging at work with your headphones on drowning out the world, unless you have to try and re-hip yourself on today’s music.

I’m ready to pay a monthly fee for good quality podcasts.
New media is dead.

Android Tablet Rumors

It seems as if people want Android to compete with Apple Ipad Tablet. As if there is this big battle waiting to happen. The problem is, the Ipad is a useless accessory that serves no other purpose than to do and be what Apple wants. That is, for the future to be planned and predetermined. Google makes their hardware and software with rules and laws protecting them to say ” this is what we are selling, this is what you can do with it. It is a Horse bit and Blinders future if you let the product manufacturers tell you what is good, as apposed to produce what you request.
There is no use in that tablet, otherwise people would have bought the many Microsoft tablets through the years. It’s not a question of quality, it’s a question of convenience and capabilities. If it is an E-book reader with app abilities Neat, so is a $200 laptop. I mean if sun glare is not a problem to you, Otherwise a Kendal migt be the better, lighter and cheaper rout.

You must always have the option of a mouse and keyboard. You should not force people to have only one interface option.

My only hope is everyone who makes gadgets, just ignores the Ipad and moves on in computer and telephone direction. That would prevent us from being forced into a touch screen only type of interface. That junk would get old fast. I would hate to write to the Tech News site on a touch screen. After about an hour, my finger tips would get sore. Imagen if it was your job. I actually freak out when people touch my monitor. Imagen if all we had was touchscreen. I would be forced to sit in teh corner chewing on the collar of my shirt staring off into space mumbling “amonia glass cleaners and key action, We used to be able to do what was called ‘over clocking’ and we could tweak our machines and linux was a real, it’s not a myth, it’s not a myth”.
Hopefully we get an Android system that competes with the Ipad, but is nothing like the Ipad at all. That would be our best hope and safest bet.

Akismet Issue – Banning People

Is Akismet down?

Did they close the servers?

Well something is wrong. My site and a few other people’s sites are banning people. it’s almost as if akismet is banning huge i.p. ranges or internet service providers. I had an issue a few months back. It seems it is happening again. I am not mad at anyone. I completely appreciate everything they have done. It does though seem like I should just turn it off in my plug-ins and all of my posts might have to have the comments turned off . Really it seems like I never used the thing anyway. I personally have decided to not accept probably 200 times the amount of messages that Akismet did not block. No i do not ban them, I just decide to not accept spammy ones.

Here is a quote from the Forums I posted my request in

all of my powweb accounts are showing this again
“Akismet has detected a problem. A server or network problem is preventing Akismet from working correctly. Click here for more information about how to fix the problem.”

Last time that was showing, there was an issue . It took a few days for people to come together and note it was not each of our individual fault/issue.
I didnt log into any of my sites for like 3 days, i logged in and saw that.. It has now been three days since I first saw it. So I am assuming no one has caught it again.

Just a heads up to the techies. if it turns out to be something on my end. Let me know.

Not to say it is actually teh same issue, but I could suggest that something else happened when they updated to accommodate the issue I WAS having. It all seemed to start with  the latest WordPress update.
