So far the best one I have used is the browser add on, the opera mini, isn’t super smooth and takes for ever to load but it lets me actually browse the web instead of pages that will not display and or just seeing the news and weather sections.

most of the games I have found are in other languages or come with so little instruction you get stuck on screens that are moved all the way to the right or all the way to the left out of viewing area.

But as a media player… excelent. all of teh media player addons are quite useless, I did find one that was a streaming radio player but again, wrong language and barely did anything once i bumped my way around in it .

The camera, good for 2mp.

What to do if your computer is running slow

“There are a few things to look at when your computer is running slow. some can be hardware and some can be software, and some can be the person who is sitting at your desk right now. Let’s go ahead and check a few things. I find it easier to start with the cheapest and most simple checks, so we are not doing a bunch of useless work and not paying bundles for something that could have really been inexpensive.
Go to pc pitstop and create a free account and do a full benchmark for later references.

Let’s start with checking your “add and remove” in your control panel. When you are looking in here just check how much stuff you have installed and check for anything that looks like something you did not install, or stuff that you may have installed but forgotten about because you do not use any longer. If you really have no idea what the program is. Let’s leave it be for now, or you can just type the name of the file/program in google and see what you get in topics related to it and see if it either scares you or reminds you.

See like a year ago I wrote a short story about what I think a hacker is, and how to protect yourself from them/one.

Well today I went back and read my story again. God the typos. Wtf was up with my firefox spell check that day ? Well while reading it I scrolled down and started reading what everyone else said…. These freaking people are saying stuff like “crackers aka black hat hackers” … Ok just thinking that line makes my nose bleed.

For the record, a cracker is a dude that cracks programs to circumvent copyright… don’t believe me? go to google and type this in “Torrent: Microsoft+Crack” and you will find some sort of executable file that allows you to use some sort of microslob product without authentication and or verification of purchase. In those results, take the time and count how many links you find with that result that are legit to what you searched… no go back to google and search “crack+network” you will not find squat. why? not because it’s uber top secret, it’s just misguided kids using a phrase improperly.

Now on to defense, set your router to stun, set email to text only, use mvps hosts file, run spybot search and destroy and the other two like. do not give your password to third party. update any virus scanner you have. If you don’t have one, well really it’s useless any, most virus writers attack the virus scanner right off these days anyway. That is why I use online scanners! Sounds cheap, only to the unwise.

Stay away from dirty sites, do not download from places you do not know, if you do for god knows what reason have to download from a strange place, google “jotti’s virus scan” and scan that single file with 20+ virus scanners at one time… Save yourself some heart ache.

I do not use avg or avast or nod32 because avg sucks from the get go, avast is nice and well enough but after a month it bloats your machine into oblivion. Nod32, if some newb tells you to use that junk it’s because he heard some dude on his favorite podcast recommend it, unknowing that the podcaster just got paid for that plug. again, when you go to jotti’s site, scroll to the bottom and look at the current virus finds, sit there and hit refresh for as long as it takes you to be satisfied with what you see, nod32 almost never finds anything.

People lay to much faith in software. If it’s your stupid mistake, it’s yours … own it.

Project from hell

well after the project has been changed and modified and rejected like 20 times since October, They give it to the new guy.. yeah that’s right.. Gave it to me.cad1.JPG

Well I finished the blue prints for this build out. Of course I asked for help and yes I needed it but it is finished, now we wait and see if it gets rejected yet again, and if the owners have changed the plan on us yet again while we where not looking.

Ok I will be a little more descriptive.. sorry..

I got a new job after a long job search while in a job I really wanted out of. it was in no way a career and never was going to do anything for me or my future. no insurance or bonuses (rlp shell of the woodlands texas) (leeches). It was just to be a temp job  but night shift and met  a few women next thing you know it’s 8 years later in a go no where job. then one day someone came to me  with a job offer, his boss was looking for someone who spent lots of time on the computer and well :)  they found me.  so here I am on third week , between learning what I can with resources available and meantime building site for owner of company. Then BAM they drop the dreaded ugly blue print on me.

Well I made due and it’s complete … the pics are the proof.

Probably not the most techy news I have done here but I got a new job working for a company called “HiTech” Fire detection.

A fire alarm and sprinkler company from out in Houston area. The guys here are great and very relaxed. Kinda strange to me because I have never been this comfortable in a work environment.

Well forget all the intros let’s get to the bone. I seem to have been assigned a task of building a website. See this guy Eein that I am working with built a site straight from css and tables and stuff which of course i think is fine and runs circles around the current site . But the owner saw me messing around with some flash ap and just jacking around with my desktop and a web template . Now see, I didn’t really want the task of building the site, simply because if it looks lame to me I will rebuild it , and rebuild it and it will never be finished. I have scrapped it like five times now already.

Well if a site is what they want then a site is what they get. You see though, I like the site that Eein built. It just looks better and is more sound and can be easily updated when needed, and it can be crawled at any time by any search bot. The owners of the site want a flash intro and a flash ap on the page , a flash ap that I really do not want to get buried in. They want a room to navigate in with a fire extinguisher and a sprinkler and a horn strobe and a lighted exit sign above the door in the back. I am sure I can do it, but man I would hate to have to edit it. I can edit it but dang .

You guys tell me what looks better. I really like Eein’s site I have said that from the start and am really against a bloated flash site. The current site is done in mostly Iframes and I really cannot see a bot crawling that which really is not a helpfull thing, ya know? See I know that they are going to be expanding to Austin Dallas and San Antonio real soon, like before the end of 2008. They surely will be wanting an update to the site telling people in those areas that it would not take long for us to get our guys on the site. Now that is becoming bigger work. I am still learning the ropes of the job and if I spend all my time on the clock building a site, when my evaluation period ends and I don’t know anything……. dude I will be screwed.

Looking at hours of photoshop and adobe flash cs3 man,!!!!

The dell machine and adobe flash cs3 and if you could zoom way in, you would see photoshop somewhere in the taskbar. This sad little machine is a trooper though, it is doing all that with only 512 mb ram, minimum for flash install. The 3.2g pentium is the life saver there though.

Have you ever noticed that the same people keep getting the highest diggs?

Have you wondered why? or how they always do? have you wondered why your submissions never even get noticed? I know that I have. On a few occasions I have submitted stuff beforeanyone else and only got like one digg, then flamed to hell and noticed that someone else submitted the same story after me and pulled well over 1000 diggs. Why is that? Do you do follow up later to see what is going on?

See I go to the photos sections.

And, well, I notice something. That only certain people get butt loads of diggs. Is it that people will only digg something from someone if they see they already have a bunch of diggs? is it that people will only digg something if they know that everyone else already thinks it is cool? I mean is that what it takes to be cooler? is to be cool already?

I just wonder if this is a simple advertisement scam. I mean not all of it has to be a direct advertisement, but I would bet that more than 90% are in some shape or form, just a scam to advertise either the content directly mentioned in the post, or something within the page that is linked from the digg post. If a post is dugg 2000+ times, do you know everyone that has dugg that post? do any of the names look familiar? Have you read the responses in there? Are the posts automated? What percentage of the voted actually posts?

I am sure we have all come into this situation, well I know I have at least five times in the past ten years.

The current girlfriend walks in while you are booting up the game that you have been wanting to play all week. This is your first day off in a week and you have been wanting to play this game, you have set today aside for this game. The girlfriend when she walks in says “come on let’s go I have to buy some lotion for my mom and my sister and I have to go pay my cell phone bill and I was hoping we could go have lunch at Outback”. You tell her in your whiny boyfriend voice ” but I wanna play a game”. You see the vein shoot up in her forehead because some clown she used to date blah blah blah or her brother blah blah blah. Now mind you I have broken up with at least four girls because of this situation and am about to do it again.

She tells you that what you are doing is unproductive and what she wants to do is actually productive. You have no response that would keep your relationship good, but many that would piss her off pretty bad. So you say nothing and hit the pause button while your brain scrambles to make her see what you want her to see. Does not matter she will not understand. You are truly with the wrong person.
