Google Wont Scroll

Both at home on my windows 7 machine and at work on my windows xp machine. I try and use google and I can not scroll down the page . (fireFox 3.5.8 at work).

Google Scroll bar not showing on Fire Fox

I don’t seem to have this issue when I use Chrome Browser.
Didn’t Microsoft get in trouble for doing this? Making it so that only their stuff works on their stuff? but odd enough, Apple can do it. and now Google can do it? I mean make a page that most people use, and make it so that it exploits a flaw in FireFox? by “utilizing one of the better features of Chrome” ?
Or did google forget to include Firefox in their latest page code?

My fix for this issue is to just do a second search for a totally different object and then re-search the original object and the problem is fixed.

GOOGLE BALLS

Yesterday, Google slowed down productivity in every office around the world.
How? they altered their home page so that if you brought your mouse over the Google logo, it would shatter the logo into a bunch of colored balls.

It was to get attention so they can announce that they have an announcement coming.

Neat…………..

To bad all it did was give our salesmen something to dingle with while they were on the phone.

Google Revealed

Google is in control of plenty.
Email,
Phone,
Internet,
Web browser,
Operating System,

Google could be doing anything with the information they are capable of having. It is your blind faith and your imagination that tells you what Google will or will not do with this information.

Get a “Do Not Track Registry” Is the goal of this campaigne. But this really sounds like more confinement.

How about not forcing the government to regulate anything.

How about we just make the information these advertisement companies are requesting, unavailable to them.

They call that stuff addware and spyware.

Get your hosts file correct and empty your cookies and the information they request is cleared right back out.

This video actually looks like someone trying to make Google trip and scuff a knee so they can attack Google while they are down.

T-mobile and Me

After three and a half years with T-Mobile. I am done, again. Yeah I was with T-Mobile a few years back. I left them for sprint. That in it’s self was a nightmare. I later moved to Cricket who really had good service, but the phones looked like garbage and had nearly no features. After a few years I left Cricket and went back to T-mobile. I guess it was long enough that I forgot what I hated so much about T-mobile. T-mobile had a really nice looking phone they were offering for free with a $39 a month contract. That was a great a deal, considering I was sick of the cheap plastic barely functioning phone I had.
As soon as my new Motorola Rizr showed up in the mail, Google released the G1. I had just signed a two year contract and couldn’t change to the G1. Two years later I finally got my G1.
I was happy with all of the features the phone had, The cool aps that let me log into facebook from anywhere, the myspace ap the twitter ap and all of the little games. All of the additional software you add to the Google G1, neat stuff. but now I was paying 92.40 a month. That’s $100 a month for 300 minutes, unlimited internet, unlimited text. My cricket account I had everything unlimited for $59 a month, but a crappy phone.
I got fed up with the T-Mobile bills so I logged into their website and changed my settings. I ditched the G1 and changed to a blackberry I had in a drawer. Knocked everything down to reflect $59 a month. This was on the 18th of august. My bill was due on the 21st. The next day I got text message from T-Mobile showing my bill will reflect the changes starting on the 19th of August. Here it is, today is the 1st of September, my bill shows I will be paying $91 on my next bill. This of course is before tax. So, something is wrong with my account.
Today I make a call to T-mobile by just pressing 611 on my Blackberry. I go through the whole automated voice thing. I get a second voice that comes on and says all of the representatives are busy and they could call me back in 8 minutes if I opt in. So I did. 8 or 9 minutes later I get a call. There was tons of noise. I could hear dishes, lots of laughter. It sounded like either a bar or a very popular crowded restaurant. i was not sure the guy could hear me at all. There is no telling what was going on up there. Probably someone’s birthday. I am not in anyway mad about celebrating at the office. I am cool with that. just bothered by the fact I didn’t get my issue resolved. The guy really sounded like he did not want to take that call. but he was nice. Just not very involved. The guy tells me that it’s just me paying for last month. No I paid for last month and the text message confirmed this. I told him I was considering changing to another plan they have and he brought to my attention that I would not get the phone deals. I laughed and told him they sold me a G1 that was two years old for $100 off of the $400 price they showed on their website while at the same time the same phone was all over the internet for sell for $150 and less. He plaid “oh your cheap, cheap people aren’t cool” bit with me by saying ” Oh yeah if you go to ebay you can get all sorts of used stuff for almost free”. I popped off with ” Well compusa-tiger direct, and fry’s have ebay accounts and well they were not selling used phones” Before he could go off on what ever he was about to get into, I asked if it would just be cheaper if I dropped my T-mobile account all together. He offered some other plan that would have lowered my bill by like $2. I had to end that call. It was getting goofy, so I said “I have to shop around for a new phone and carrier I will be calling later to pay off the contract”. That phone call had to end.
I have to call back tomorrow. I will keep calling back each day until I get this resolved. if they refuse then at the end of this billing period, I will drop their service. I would do pretty well if I drop off the grid again. i have been getting alot of wrong numbers lately and it has been getting worse. So it would be nice to get a whole new number. Seems some moron out there knows nothing but dyslexic people, or he is himself.

so let’s see what T-mobile does. I think it has run it’s course.

Oh, here s picture of my billing.

T-Mobile, unexplainable bill

I added a post on T-mobile’s website

Gmail Phone

Well I logged in today to my gmail account while on my Xubuntu partition and saw something new (to me).

It seems that Google has released  and internet based phone that we all can use locally for free.

There is a page that describes the rates. but there was also a pop up ( I did not screenshot) that says calls within the country I am in are free, but calls outside of the country have extremely low rates.

Here is a list of the rates for the google phone and the page the rates are listed on.

Now you can make phone calls from Gmail at extremely low rates — so you can share your two cents with France
(or Argentina, or Iceland, or Guam…) for $0.02. Check out some sample per-minute rates below or see the complete list.

Google Leading internet telephony provider
United States free 2.1 ¢/min + connection fee
Canada free 2.1 ¢/min + connection fee
India 6 ¢/min 9.2 ¢/min + connection fee
UK landline 2 ¢/min 2.1 ¢/min + connection fee
UK mobile 18 ¢/min 25.3 ¢/min + connection fee
Mexico landline 10 ¢/min 9.9 ¢/min + connection fee
Mexico mobile 19 ¢/min 33.6 ¢/min + connection fee
France landline 2 ¢/min 2.1 ¢/min + connection fee
France mobile 15 ¢/min 20.3 ¢/min + connection fee

Wooo hoo… It’s like the G1.1 for all of us lol… I wonder if they will slip in some ads in there.

Google Phone picture

The reason I mentioned Xubuntu is that I had just installed the latest version and then tested the  Ethernet driver adapter support by heading straight to gmail and I got the notice. Since I was on Linux, and all of the android phones are owned by Google, and well since Android is based on Linux , My assumption was that Google gave all of the Linux users a cool little secret treat.

But then I booted to my winseven partition and :-(

There it is, the google phone for gmail.

I remember when msn and yahoo did this years ago. As soon as they stopped, Skype took it over.

**updated**

My question is, if you have the official Gmail ap on your droid. Does this mean you can now make calls and bypass your phone billing service since you are paying for unlimited internet ?

Gmail Scam Ads

And Google swears they monitor the ads they serve.

Picture of scam email in google

These people in the ads served by Google say they are there to back up your password.

How fricken Gullible are we these days ? is this simple of a scam working now?

Google … wake up
Scan your ads.

Keyword Search Tools

For a project I am doing with a freind I am required to use a keyword search tool. I have checked a few out and see a little bit of an issue. I have a starcraft II website. I used my starcraft II website as a test site for pulling together keywords. I typed in the web address into SKTOOL. and Google it’s self recommended I use a phone name. It also recommended that I leave the II and or 2 out of it’s name because that gets 500 searches a week while adding a 2 or ii at the end will get only 25. ERm. Part ii is new and the first version is ten years old. That is why the old one gets low searches. SO Google’s Database for it’s search engine keyword tool, is old. Because Starcraft II is going on it’s second month. It will be th the most search version of Starcraft out there. My website shows it has well over 500 hits a week from Google search under the term Starcraft II crack. So I tried that exact phrase and got nothing. Squat.
Just now I did this website (truxtertech.com) and used my actual keywords, and Google recommended I use these keywords. “tech deck” and “Tech Desk”. Really, What in the blue %^&* am I going to use those for ? Other than explaining how the keyword thing is wonky.
This post is not to give any expert, pro , or novice computer person even the slightest bit of computer training. This is just a lightweight technical analysis of today’s technical writing.
What do I find to be a better method of Keyword suggestions? Well simple. Write your story, write your page, fill your content. Find keywords in the content so your keywod meta tags match your actual content. Or just write up a huge list of products your really want to sell from your website, and put those words in your meta tags, and write about each item. If you run completely from automated suggested wordings, you have a gobbledy goop website for a dog kennel that is selling cats only because they get better hits in Google keyword search. Now if you are a link farm or a spam site and don’t care about return hits, then by all means. Build your website entirely on Keyword searches. I can understand looking for suggested words or word combination, that is totally acceptable.
What needs to be produced is an Alexa keyword. I know that sounds like a shook up bottle of pew, but Alexa has trends, that fluctuate. Alexa’s count is current and more on time than Google. Clearly by months.
Now I am not bashing the use of keyword search tools. Not at all. but from the results I just got for truxtertech.com in sktool, I now understand why so many websites out there make no sense. It’s people using some tool to crank out everything that gets huge traffic. They don’t care what that stuff is or what it’s for they just want to say it or met tag it. and well…… That junk makes me nuts.

If you must use a keyword search tool or keyword tool. Use it lightly. Don’t go using everything that pops up in the keyword tool. Try more than one keyword tool. Because simply just having the keyword does not generate you traffic. You have to dominate the 1000000001 websites who are using that exact same keyword.
That my friend is the challenge.
How do you do that? by having content that works well with that keyword. You can’t change your content to match that keyword. You have to change your keyword to match your content. Making sure you have better sells of the products you actually have.
Write thorough reports of your products. and make sure you put in the customers face that what you say you have, you really know a lot about. and that you are the person to get this product from. Do not be mechanical. DO not be to human. People want to buy from corporations, Not joe’s garage sale and not from robot Robert’s garage of automated crap. You have to slide in between and sell the people an item they know is protected by more than just the word of stranger. and a product that is not made by slapping two pieces of plastic together.

How Bing Could Squash Google

Adsense. What is the easiest way Google makes certain their people who pay to be in the search engine get seen ? they share the wealth.
Bing has yet to even begin to try that. all they have to do is make an affiliate program to share the adverts with the websites out there.
Totally remove the whole Silverlight program. That and adobe air have got to be the clunkiest pieces of garbage. I don’t care how you improve it. A perfect turd is still a turd. Quit forcing people to hold that turd. I don’t want it in my computer, I don’t want a turd in my hand. Simply put, If I have to install that program to use your software, I will stop using your software.

Get yahoo off of Clicksor. I used to clicksor with all sorts of hopes of having an alternative to the goliath. I never made one red cent. Not one penny. I had a relative call me and tell me they clicked some ad on my old site, they said they bought something from one of the ads and never got their product. They thought I controlled it all. Clicksor never even noted the click. I did not tell my relative 700 miles away to click it. it was months later when I found out they did. Once they got tired of waiting for their products.
Clicksor then dropped me and said I didn’t have enough traffic. I had 200-2000 people a day. It fluctuated.

So having yahoo tied into something like that, surely isn’t helping them at all. Having a program where websites serve their ads for them will profit Bing and the website owners and would allow competition to Google’s adsense. Truth is adsense needs competition, they are getting a bit diva/spoiled princess.

When a person uses a search engine, they don’t want to be told how to search. People do searches like they think. They type it like they expect it to work. Not like they are told a search engine should be. Bing can do this if they just look at the most common searches. They all look like a question. Bing has this information. Google has this information. Yahoo, I have no idea why yahoo quit like that.

If you have suggestions for Bing or Yahoo post them here in a response.

The Seo Book We Should All Have

A good friend I know (I reference tons of stuff to her website) Alicia Crowder,  has a book out now called “SEO Standards for Beginners“.
If you are a web designer of new or professional status, this book is under $10 and a quick read. I assure you, there will be something in there that changes your knowledge about Search engine optimization.
Her description of the book is:

SEO Standards for Beginners is an informative book to help individuals and business owners better understand what SEO is and how to better compete in the online marketplace. Providing a general comprehension of the purpose of optimization, as well as practical methods for achieving better results online, this book will assist beginners in simplifying what is often otherwise bewildering.

I have had short encounters with her where we just sit and talk site building and SEO. Each sit in she says something that I have to study up on. Each time we have conversed she reminds me of stuff I have been neglecting to remember. Stuff I have been overlooking. This book is a must buy for anyone who needs crib notes, reminders, and new working ideas to build your website to comply to search engine needs.

She works for an SEO company. She has done so for as long as I have known her. She is great at what she does and has many large name clients ( I will not reveal or other seo companies may try and swoop em up). This book will be, for certain your best investment in web-design and site building as of yet. This book will help you in your quest to get to the front page of search engines like Google, Yahoo, Bing and the huge string of other search engines.

It would be foolish of a professional Search Engine Optimization person to pass up on a chance to find things they have been overlooking, to find things they never knew. Or to ever assume they know it all.

Go get Seo Standards for Beginners. It will be well worth your effort. Trust it is not just for beginners, I’m certain there is something for everyone in this book. I will be ordering mine Friday.
