How To Use Control Panel Windows 10

Took a while to locate control panel on windows 10.
Found it.
Found that “settings” thing but that seems useless for what I need to do.
For those of you who want to get your control panel back, what you can do is either of two things.  You can navigate to the system32 folder and look for control.exe right click and add to start or add to taskbar or you can right click and create shortcut and move that to the desktop

Or you can cut out the searching and create a shortcut right there on desktop without digging through your folders and files.
Like this

Right click desktop and select “Create Shortcut”

Target= C:\Windows\System32\control.exe

Start in= C:\WINDOWS\system32

After that I just open control panel and change to small icons. This way I get all of my old control panel icons back like  they have always been since windows 95.

Or you can bring your mouse over the start button. right click and in that menu you will find control panel.

Why Was Windows 10 Free?

whyiswindows10freeWhy was Windows 10 Free? Why did they give us a free Windows operating system?
Well if you are skeptical like any person who has been duped into a service for longer than they’d like, you’d compare it to a drug dealer at a school giving kids a free sample. because a return customer is always right around the corner.
Look at the free windows 10 as a migration towards reoccurring revenue. If you are just renting the operating system, and just renting the apps, and renting the storage space (cloud) you will have no option but to stay because you’d be kind of stuck.
Once you’ve made a few payments, you’re already invested in this thing that will never pay off. Kinda like reddit Karma. Or world of warcraft addiction. You paid to play, you play because you paid, your score went up you got cool additional stuff for being so invested. Now you have higher score may as well pay to keep your game going, oh look! … an expansion pack, but damn I have to upgrade my tiny little service because it isn’t compatible and people will think I’m cheap.

Meanwhile you will be hogging down bandwidth and your isp will force you to pay more for larger cap.

Now you’re really $%^&ing invested. but you’ll buy a windows phone because it lets you sync your nifty gif making apps with your phone now. Well, it is all apps and cloud based. So you have to up that bandwidth level too.
Now you are super $%^&ing invested.
Now Microsoft made their “scary announcement” today. “This is the last Window Ever” (here on forbes). Then tell you it isn’t over just going to be “different” meaning more like a pay-to-play operating system.

Software makers will get more out of their leases for rights to design items for Microsoft, but instead of paying up front, Microsoft will take it out of each payment from every windows user who uses the purchased APPS. that’s right, apps. Cloud based programs that you can’t use if your internet goes down.

Here’s something I posted up about 5 years ago on the topic telling people it would be like this soon. Yeah the responses I got were pretty hateful.

Microsoft Moving us to the Cloud

Sure some people could enjoy it, but not everyone. Let’s make it a choice please. Just have two brand new Microsoft operating systems at a time. The one made by Microsoft and sold to the public, and the open source one.

Why Microsoft is Heading to windows 8 Direction

Because they can sell Microsoft tablets and phones.
Microsoft was taken to court by Apple/Macintosh years ago for infringement. Microsoft’s saving grace was they said they are only selling software, Windows is an operating system not a computer. So, Microsoft is a software company not a computer company. Notice they didn’t say “Not a hardware company”. A tablet technically isn’t a computer.

So if Microsoft can get you to enjoy their operating system on your pc. Then they have a chance of creating their own “Computer Tablet” and calling it a windows computer.

Now if Microsoft can get rid of the typo issue of touch screen keyboards, and somehow reinventing the scroll wheel function of a mouse on a touch screen monitor, then they have a fighting chance. The main issue is the design software most power users use would be murder on a touch screen without a scroll wheel and a the third button function of a scroll wheel on a mouse.

So if it comes down to the only way to Microsoft is through a tablet, some of us would have to step down and install linux with WINE so we can still use my programs that currently only work with Windows. Autocad, Magix Music, Etc.

Are you ready to jump to Windows 8 yet?

[poll id=”26″]
What measures have you taken to prepare yourself for the best Windows 8 transition experience possible?
Have you purchased a touch screen capable monitor?
Have you bought the latest motherboard, processor, memory and Solid state hard drive?

Yeah, me either.
Maybe I will wait a couple years for the computers to start shipping with windows 8 already on them. Not the ones that say “Windows 8 ready” or “windows 8 upgrade for free”. The machines built for Windows 8.

Typically when the new operating systems come out, we find later that current hardware is less than able to run the operating systems and soon after come new and improved hardware. Most often is ram/memory. but the inevitable is processor. with a new CPU it’s usually a good idea to get a new motherboard also. or you will be left behind.

The part you have to prepare for is, what is available now, at it’s max is usually just barely above minimum requirements of what ever software or operating system that has just been released. Like say, ddr2 memory was the highest we had when Vista came out. That memory capped out in it’s time at 2 gigs per stick. many motherboards have only two slots. Wouldn’t you know it, 4 gigs memory is optimal for windows 7. That’s not how it was announced but that’s what we have come to learn on our own. This will be the same case with windows 8. Now with Windows 7 out we have DDR3. Which has a cap of what I think is 8 gigs per stick. Count on DDR5 becoming the common with in the next year, and the first bloat pack (service pack) coming out and everyone realizing that new optimal for windows 8 will be crazy high like 8 gigs. best performance 32 gigs.

So hold out on your upgrade to any new operating system for a few months. let the new hardware come out. Let the first few updates come out. Let the internet swell with complaints. Don’t buy parts until you see the crying stop. Prices should level out to a fair cost. If you buy any parts or computers now, you are basically buying off the junk that the stores are trying to get off their shelves. They too know how it works. Every single time.

Fear Monger
Basically, based on past experience, if you are running DDR2 or older, you will be left behind. That mouse of yours is antiquated, and that video card you have that is the top of the line, is now ….. just cute. That 250 gig spinning hard drive will be pointless. Of course because the numbers are higher on everything, we will bloat out our videos and music. Count on songs becoming 1 gig minimum. So that one TB hard drive you have in the external case, will be antiquated, 50 TB hard drives coming with in the next two years. Easily. (not easy task, but is a must). Well at this rate . What does this mean?  It means your 250 gigs a month cap from Comcast, will easily be reached. Your 2 gig cap from at&t is less than laughable now. Just wait until ALL of your software is apps based and you begin to agree that cloud storage is the only logical option. That 250 gigs a month will be less than a week to break.

This of course is one hundred percent plausible fiction.

but as always. Software should always excel hardware. That’s how we evolve. If not for something to push the hardware to be better, faster, stronger, we would be complacent. We would not innovate. When we have greater speeds and storage, we can then come up with ideas that seemed farfetched and impossible.

I admit that I am currently satisfied with Windows 7, fearful of what Windows 8 could mean, and skeptical of any positive claims we see in the next 5 months of Windows 8.

So no.. I am not ready.

Windows 8 Developers Preview Released

Screen shot windows 8

Screen shot windows 8

Windows 8 is released to the developers. there is a 32 bit version released and a 64 bit version released.
Some people who already have windows 8 developer’s are complaining about not knowing how to disable “aps”. They say that you start something, it just drops out of view but does not completely shut off.

Macinfake?

Some have found that by renaming a DLL file in the windows 32 folder, you get your taskbar. not sure about it.. Haven’t been home to test it yet so do your research. I think the DLL statement was false. There is an option to use taskbar . but when you hit the start button, it just starts the windows 8 Metro user interface.
Here is a funny comparison picture of how people are saying windows is making us stupid :-). Far right is the Windows 8 default screen.

As you see. Some people do not like having simple big smushy button tiles as their only option.

How to Get Traffic to your website FREE

There is no single post that teaches you to get more traffic. I have multiple pages that explain search engine optimization, Google index and link submissions. The intention is to help you build a better website, gain traffic, and be listed correctly in Google to help you gain traffic, and reduce people who just like to call every page on their website, what ever it is that gets them traffic, while not related to the search terms at all.

We all want to know How to Get Traffic to your website FREE. I know I do. I always look for ways to Get Traffic to my website. be it cheap or free, or anything that doesn’t cost me much.
So over the years I have picked up a few ideas and tips. Most of the Webmaster Search engine optimization knowledge, I got straight from Google. Google’s guidelines are what showed me how to properly index my website in Google and get listed with other websites for specific correct categories.
I have also come up with tricks or shortcuts that cut out all of the webdesign chaos that we normally have to face when we want people to find our websites. All of these tricks, I have posted them on the web so that I can help others get their site seen and yo get traffic to their websites, and to make sure the internet is not so messy anymore.

Here is a list of previous posts on the topic of  getting rank to your website.

Start with a good Website Template to work from. And of course a good website host (this is a sponsored link but I do use them)
Gaining Rank In Google
SEO KeyWord Analyzer
Selecting The Best Online Advertising
Search Engine Indexing
Site Submission Links
Always Check Page Rank
Check Site Owner Whois if you want to quickly see if a domain is available or soon to be.
SEO Tools

Main thing you need to know about getting traffic to your website, is make sure your content is something that a lot of people will want to read about, purchase, search for.  If you are building a website for teaching puppies how to do tricks, you will have more traffic on your website than some guy who is teaching how to properly sort flea shampoos at Wal~mart. obvious which one will be searched more.

This is not all there is to Webdesign. Not by a long shot. It is great to have good graphics on your website. So good knowledge of graphics design is a good thing. Good content and well worded descriptions of your content. You must have pictures for everything you are selling or giving away. People like pictures. They like pictures a lot. If you do not stick to at least the basic rules, you will not make it to the full 12 second attention window that people have, if they can even find you.
Seo is a fun game, when you get into understanding how you can get rank and get your website seen and how to work on indexing your website with Google and other search engines.

On another lower note, for all of the SEO and web-designers who build for other people. This link powweb try it and look at the cost, to show thanks please note that you got that link from me, I will get a discount on my next payment. Look. The first two years are an amazing cost, and each follow up is pretty typical, unlimited storage, unlimited bandwidth, unlimited email accounts. So, thank me with saying you got the link from here.

Microsoft extends free Windows 7 trial -ZDNet.com

http://blogs.zdnet.com/microsoft/?p=5737

The dirty truth!

Microsoft is now getting really down and dirty! “Microsoft extends 90-day free Windows 7 enterprise trial until end of 2010…a “while supplies last” free 90-day trial of Windows 7 that was targeted specifically at enterprise customers.”  In psychology, Stockholm syndrome is a term used to describe a paradoxical psychological phenomenon wherein hostages express adulation and have positive feelings towards their captors that appear irrational in light of the danger or risk endured by the victims. Now, you are probably wondering how does this happen…. and what does this have to do with this article! Its simple on both counts; The real transformation or psychological switch for the captives toward their captors is the Stockholm Syndrome’s psychiatric definition describes it as “a primitive gratitude for the gift of life,” not unlike that felt by an infant!

Microsoft extending the  90-day free Windows 7 enterprise trial until end of 2010 is a truly diabolical ploy but paints makes Microsoft in a good light making them sound like they are really good guys, caring and helping you out in a bad economy but this is not the case by far and are really offering you a disservice.  It is a GIVE AWAY! That means, giving away something,  NOT making a REAL offer or offering special discounting on their product which would be the RIGHT, helpful choice. Microsoft extends 90-day free Windows 7 enterprise trial until end of 2010 is the same ploy taken by Credit card company’s getting you complacent and wallowing in your denial until you have no other resource or time to make an alternate choice by postponing the inevitable and giving you enough rope to hang your self out to dry and no way down and Microsoft is hoping to make some un-discounted money somewhere along the road.

Mind you, within the sales process, there’s still resistance to overcome the difficult and very painful decision to spend their money, but in their mind that hurdle has been taken. They liked your initial offer and did exactly what you wanted them to do. As in the Stockholm Syndrome’s primus, as previously describes as “a primitive gratitude for the gift of life”?!

Windows 7, Tiny7

I have always liked the work of a person named eXPer1ence, with his tiny stripped versions of windows products. This guy makes Microsoft feel like Linux. Open source and all you know?.

I did a search just to see if he had done anything with Windows 7. Well he did. Google pushed out some very promising results. On the popular Torrent search site it showed eXPer1ence, modded programs and his name for user account that created and uploaded the torrent files to the search engine. So I knew it was genuine and not from some virus freak that renamed a bad file.

I decided i would test it in benchmarks against the current Windows 7 that i have installed, straight from Microsoft’s website. Legit cd key and all .. of course. I just wanted to see if a stray dude could create mod a well appreciated operating system into a fine video game running o/s. I broke out the extra Sata Hard drive and connected everything. and yes it was the exact same make as the current drive I was using.

I did the full entire install. I installed my need for speed carbon and most wanted, shift and undercover, grand theft auto iii Vice city, San Andreas and gtaiv. All installed fine and smooth. I tried to install DirectX 10. It said I already had an equivalent version installed. Ok that was cool. I started my benchmarking. I played all my need for speeds on both versions of windows seven, 64bit full install and 32 bit tiny7. Tiny played a tad bit smoother but I got artifacts on occasions, I moved on to my Grand Theft Auto games. III was so smooth and impressive I was sold to tiny7 in a flash, same for Vice City and San Andreas. I started to try GTAIV. No go. GTAIV would not play. The command prompt would open and then quickly disappear. So I started searching online. I see that the latest version of tiny7 says it will play Grand Theft Auto IV Listed here. I confirm that I have the version stated. The game would not play. So i double check my  directx version. It seems that some items of direct X would not install. I fully uninstalled Direct x 10 to see if I could solve the issue with a reinstall. Now direct X 10 would not install, at all.

I also got an issue with items on the desktop. If I tried to paste from or to the desktop, I would get an error saying that the desktop was not found. um… ermmm???  No version of Autodesk Or autocad would install. So it was useless for working on drafting. Would not sign into network and save settings. Some of my media editing tools would not work either. Like magix music maker and video editor. If magix does not work, then it’s useless to me.

For gaming, I have to say that Tiny7 is not a complete failure, but it did fail my trial. I have since uninstalled tiny7. I am really liking  windows 7 ultimate 64 bit. Maybe next time eXPer1ence until then , I think i will go up the street and purchase 7, the proper way… It is worth it.
