Facebook Missing Person posts

I have noticed that a lot of posts have been coming with missing person ads on them. and well there seems to be a misplaced etiquette issue going on.Sudden burst of missing person’s pictures showing up on Facebook. How can they be hurting the search with this?

See I do understand that some people want their child or wife or puppy back. It makes sense to go to the easiest venue for this.

Missing_on_facebook
Notice this picture says “yesterday” the teen age child has been missing a few hours and you post a photo of them as missing? With zero contact information on it? It says to call Midland police. but what country? What state? Should I run through every Midland in the world until I find one with a police station on 101? This seems fake. Though it might not be. It seems fake. Does it say who the concerned parent is? No. Leave a phone number for a police authority? No. There is a Midland in the state that I live in. but the guy sharing the picture, is in a whole other country well over 10 hours flight time away. So it might not even be from my state.

The guy sharing the image does not allow people to contact him directly. So … If I see her how would I contact you?
Did the owner of this Facebook account steal this image from a concerned parent who is sharing the image on their profile who does allow people to contact them? Why couldn’t the owner of this account just hit the share button instead of downloading the picture, then re-uploading the image as his own? Now there is no way to tell the parents directly.

If I was a concerned parent, I would want people to contact ME with any leads. I would contact the police. I would want them to call everyone, and I would leave them as much contact capability possible and make it as easy as I could for them.

I sometimes wonder if the people just make fake posts about missing persons to increase their Klout Scores. If so then this is low. If not, then someone needs to contact the parents and have them understand how to increase communication with possible witnesses.

On another note. It’s funny how people can pick apart anything anyone says, but Snopes seems to be the holy word of the wise.

Do Klout Scores and Facebook likes really represent a Company’s Worth?

Do Klout Scores and Facebook likes really represent you Company’s Worth?
These days, to be anyone, you have to have a bunch of likes on Facebook. This brings your “Likability” up. See the moguls and giants and the interns (that sell the giants on new ideas so they can get a job) have a connection issue between them. The interns have these ideas to use everything new they can think of so they can sell their foot in the door of where they are wanting to work. So they tell the higher ups “It’s time to move in a new direction” or “No you are thinking like the old way” as if you have been in a coma since “the old way”.

There are Exploits to Facebook that no one even cares to realize are there, except those who use them, to use you to get ahead and never once look back to help you.

New Media Flaw

See.. Likes are likes. No matter how real or true they may be. a like is a like. Such as the tool that shares the rumor of Starbucks not supporting troops. This is a guy that uses a program called “Klout“. Klout gives you a score for every share and like you get on Facebook. as long as the guy sharing that rumor doesn’t let anyone comment on that image, he will get lots of shares and likes. The moment the shares stop, the moment his Klout score stops getting better. Klout doesn’t care about how real your likes are, just that you got them.
Such as here Rumor that Bill Gates is Giving $5000 to people who share is picture.

Klout scores and Facebook likes are a scam for marketing. Something that old media has had a curb on for decades.
Truth is, don’t go buying some company because their Klout score is high. because seriously, you have no idea how they got that score. Sure they got it with likes on Facebook. but what the heck are people liking on that company’s page? Are the likes related to the products? If someone is selling you a company based on Klout scores and Facebook likes, make sure they show every liked item and total of likes. For all you know it could be something gory or totally unrelated to their product. If it’s a cookie company but they have more likes related to something political… then their product is no good. No one likes it.

Bill Gates Giving away $5000 to people on Facebook?

Is Bill Gates Giving away $5000 to people on Facebook?
I mean….. You saw a picture of Bill gates holding a sign saying that he will be giving $5000 to everyone who shares his picture on Facebook!!!!!

bill_gates_facebook_$5000

Sorry to tell you folks but you have been duped.

Do you know how many people have downloaded and re-uploaded that picture? There is no method known to man to find even 1/1000th of the people sharing that picture or even 1/100th of the people who have the picture in their personal albums.
Bill_gates_Reddit
The troll that is sharing that picture is currently at a few 40 thousand shares. The easiest way to tell it’s a troll, is the person sharing the Bill Gates (Facebook version) image personally are hostingthe picture in their photo album, saying “It couldn’t hurt” as if the way they are possessing and sharing the image is the same as just clicking the share button. Once a picture is in your personal photo album, it no longer adds to the count of the original image.

troll

and to top it off, they make it so you can’t comment to warn others that it is fake.

The image originally came from reddit, where Bill just did an “Ask ME Anything” visit to let people ask what they want to, and he tries to answer all or as many questions as he can.

If there is any question as to which Bill Gates image is the original. See the little guys he drew on the Reddit version? Look at the one on the right. That is the icon of Reddit.com

Look behind Bill, there is a plush version of that little Reddit on the dresser.
There is a phallic Device that has been photoshopped into the background and the sign he is holding is clearly typed on top of the image.
See it’s shadow? now look at the image with the phallic (Gigantic plug), why does it have the shadow of the plush toy?
No Bill Gates is not giving you $5000 for sharing a picture.

Please share this post in the comments section on facebook when you see the fake one get passed around. not to call your friends stupid, but to stop this from being a thing.

Facebook and the Etiquette Thing

You log into your Facebook account and look at all of the happy notices you have and you start clicking through them. This is your daily pop in and check thing. You do it once, twice, a few times a day. You leave your witty comment and you go about your day until you have a stale moment and you check your Facebook again and read your friends pages. You post a picture, you like a message, and sometimes you repost them. This is the daily thing. This is completely acceptable.

Where the issue begins.
Tagging
You post a picture of a duck and you tag all of your friends that you think would like to see this duck. Where that becomes an issue, is now your friend has to wonder ‘Should I untag myself from this duck? Will it upset my friend if I do that? Oh well I’ll just leave it”. Pretty simple solution right? Then the person does it again. Since you let it happen before, they see no reason that you’d care. Besides it’s kind of antisocial now to untag yourself. Oddly enough??.. Now your other friend sees you getting tagged in a picture and realizes that YOU like ducks. Now you are tagged in every picture on the website, as a duck.
Okay, ducks, big deal they’re cute. Right?. but what happens when it becomes “Please help the children of the nuclear plant explosion” See that one is tough. It’s a charity type thing… Right? but what if the picture is of these children with radioactive skin falling off? Poor babies. Right? Now you are the person who is into gore and death.

I can be close to vulgar in some of my posts, and I have a bunch of friends who are very vulgar in their posts. I do not want to be tagged in a vulgar post. I don’t want my mom to see it. Even if it’s a vulgar title to express a look on a puppy’s face in the picture. I don’t want it. Don’t do it!

Facebook etiquette

Facebook etiquette

Yes I selected that picture because of the spammy link at the bottom.

Unauthorized pictures
You and your friend are at the zoo and your friend is taking a ton of pictures of you both. and uploading them straight to Facebook. all of these pictures, you have maybe a booger hanging out of your nose, and your friend thinks it is funny and will not remove the pictures.Or you are with a person you are considering to date, but uncertain, meanwhile there is another person you are considering to date. You get a photo of you with your arm around someone, that may turn out to be a bad date with in the next couple days. What does the other person you are seeing have to feel when they see this picture? It doesn’t make you a bad person to be testing out matches. Not at all. You aren’t bound to either of them. They’re still new to you. but jeese, you don’t leave them feeling insecure about you.

Since when did it become okay to post another person’s picture online?

Facebook Picture etiquette

Facebook Picture etiquette

Unauthorized Check-in
You have a stalker. and just don’t know it yet. and your friend is checking you in at the lingerie warehouse for obese people.
Someone does a check-in while in your house and labels it something like “TruXter’s party barn”.

It’s okay to do some of these things at appropriate times. but come on. Control yourself people. You don’t have to tag your friends in everything you do. This is spam. Where is the Facebook etiquette booklet?

  • Can we please stop posting posts with hash tags on Facebook?
  • Can we stop making our kids beg, holding signs saying they will get (enter gift here) if they get 100000 likes ?
  • Stop posting that stupid post about Starbucks not supporting the troops. It’s fake. People do this just for the likes .

Your rights, internet and Privacy

These days are certainly different days of the past.
This isn’t about phobias or conspiracies or anything you can use to belittle this. This is about self respect.

In the past we took everything to the highest level of precaution to avoid giving away our personal information .  We refused to give up our date of birth, our names of any sort, and we kept our images to a minimum. In fear of identity theft.
We learned that there is a simple method of finding someone’s social security number simply by knowing where they were born, their name and the day they were born. Back in those days, a “security question” asking what your mother’s maiden name is, was a red flag. A darn good red flag. There is no reason for that question on any website. Especially banks. If they don’t need that information to give you credit, then they do not need that information for anything else, so they should never ask that question. even as a “security question”.

Today we give up everything and laugh at those who do not. We will post our face on the internet, our first and last name, pin our home address in public maps, we tag our family and share that information to the public as if it validates our love for one an other. We post pictures of people, without their consent and think it totally irrational for them to object. Don’t believe me? Ask someone not to post your picture and watch how they react. Typically they will act as if they agree with you, then they will fidget, and mock you for being weird or paranoid about it. They will then tell you that your are too attractive to not share your image, then they will erupt in anger to you. Then they will plea to you. Then they will disconnect themselves from you.

Try this. Take every photo of yourself offline. Request all of your friends to take down photos that contain you in them. If you think that part is too hard, then you might want to rethink your privacy thus far. Now next time you are a party, Avoid the cameras, because the person taking the pictures isn’t going to understand your wants of privacy. So it’s easier to just walk away from the pictures. When they notice what you are trying to do, it then becomes a sport to post your picture on the internet without your consent.

I have observed this for well on 18 years now. This is a fact. and it is very offensive the way people get with photos. and because I am so offended by it, it leaves me snapping at people who are actual friends or girlfriends when they just ask what they think is a very normal question. ” Why can’t I have a picture of us together online to show my friends and family what you look like”. Quite often they will assume you just don’t want to be seen with them. Which further proves how far we have sunken into just trusting things at the value they were described to you, instead of what we can see is really happening.

All of this, I blame on Facebook. In their methods of getting more information from you to sell to potential customers, they keep changing the way you use the site, and changing the rules to the site, so often you have no desire to read the rules and terms of use.ny allowing you certain features if ou give up other forms of privacy. They are the owners of Instagram and just announced a week ago that Instagram has the rights to sell your photos to advertisers who would like to use them in their advertisements. Offering you no compensation. Then with in hours they 360’d that claim and said they never would do such a thing. Just 4 years ago, Facebook made the same claim on it’s main site, and that option is still readily in their hands at all times. Just read the terms of service and see for yourself. Set private or public, those files are on Facebook’s servers and that server is their on their property. Last thing you want is your photo being misused by the highest bidder.

but none of that matters to you anymore. We have relaxed to a state that we now say ” I don’t care what you do with it”. as if Identity theft would be flattering, because you doubt it could ever happen. EVER!
Family tree websites that have you post information about your family heritage. It’s a group event to find our more about about your lineage and your family’s origin. It’s a way to find family members long lost and family members who didn’t even know they had cousins. but what is it really? It’s a spam farm. and that’s a it is. Those sites are created for the sole purpose of targeting spam. Sure you find a use for it that you believe you benefit greatly from but at what cost to you? to all of the family members you posted against their will or without their knowledge?

I for one, will not live my life that way. I have to much respect for myself, and I truly wish  that some of you would also.
Here’s a few articles to enjoy.

Gerber baby food and glass post on Facebook

There is a post on Facebook claiming that Gerber baby food has glass in t.

parent please copy you could save a
baby’s life,, Thanks

The post on Facebook stating that Gerber baby food has glass in it, is a hoax

As Noted

See this kind of stuff is cruel to post. This is crying wolf for something that can happen later and we can become less tempted to jump on the issue and solve it because the chance it is fake.

The thought that a child who can not tell what is wrong, is sitting there with a lacerated throat as you shovel more nummy banana flavored glassy baby food down it’s throat to help quiet the child, makes more people hurry and paste that image and re-share this gruesome post.

People who post this need to be publicly humiliated.
The Gerber Nestle baby food with broken glass in it is 100% false

Which celebrity you look alike, facebook exploit

UPDATE
This page is coming down because I will not help Facebook if Facebook doesn’t help you.
and it is in your best interest to leave that place. It is everything myspace was becoming when we all left.
Facebook banned me because I will not send them a picture of my driver’s license.
UPDATE

Latest exploit to facebook is the “Awesome, Which celebrity you look alike? : http://www.facebook.com/CelebslikeYou/app_XXXXXXXXXXXXX”

Looks like Facebook has allowed an ap in their network that is exploited. or extremely stupid. I just had 5 female friends fall for that dang thing, and there seems to be only three pictures that the ap uses to tell people they look like. There is no logic to the ap at all. Long face looks like round face, brown hair looks like blond, curly hair looks like straight. Wide eyes look like tiny eyes.

facebook.celebrity.scam

I am not sure if the ap has a virus in it or not, but it looks like it’s bogus and the ap is just used to get you to willingly give up your personal information.
One thing for certain, this is an Exploit in your gullibility.
Here’s how you remove all personal information access that this ap has tricked you out of.

look to the top right of your facebook page
Next to the word “Home” is a triangle pointing down. Click that and select “Privacy settings”.
privacy setting facebook

Now move your mouse to where you see “edit settings” to the right of

Ads, Apps and Websites
Manage your settings for ads, apps, games and websites.

Click on edit settings.
apps.setting

Next you will see a small window section that says “Apps you use” on the right of that you will see “edit settings”
aps.you.use

Click the edit settings button and delete everything you no longer care for, including the ap you just installed

Now would be a great time to change your Facebook password also.

Facebook Down?

Everyone keeps asking “Facebook Down?”.
Well the answer is yes and no.

No Facebook is not getting hacked. Yes Facebook is running slow.
Simple reason. New changes. New additions to layouts coming and the bing merger. Looks like it is taking a bit longer and a lot more bandwidth to crawl all of us to save our information in Bing’s search.
So this is showing issue with hitting the submit to Facebook button on youtube, random news sites and friend’s sites and smart phone android/iphone/ipad apps.

go back to staring at your phone wondering why some facebooks just won’t connect.

Facebook Subscribers – Privacy issue

You think your profile on Facebook is set safe and private.
Have you ever made a friends request to someone and they did not add you to friends but you see their posts all of the sudden? There is a reason for that. Facebook puts you in as a subscriber to that person, by default, because you requested their friendship. So, how do you keep people from subscribing to your posts?
https://www.facebook.com/settings?tab=subscribers
Go to that page and uncheck that box. Issue resolved.
Go to Account settings.

Subscribers will receive your public posts and will not be added as friends. You can have broader conversations about public topics and keep personal updates for friends. Learn more.

uncheck that box.
Every time Facebook changes their policy of privacy, they add stuff, when they add stuff they have to unlock your other settings or put an extra step in to re-hide what you hid.
