My office was not the only place to notice this.
Webpro Internet tech News
I couldn’t get an answer or even a verification that I wasn’t out of my mind on twitter today. I swear it’s like twitter is either getting A.D.D. Mentality, or as snobbish as facebook.
But anyway. I posted like 3 notices by lunch time trying to get a ” yeah we don’t see squat working here either” . I got nothing from it.
So as the tech guy for an office I work in (of about 20+ admin staff), I kept having to tell a half guessed story ” um yeah looks like The server google is on is down” and of course someone would walk up ” Did i just hear you say the internet is down??? I can’t work like that” .
So thanks Twitter.
You guys rock.
lol.

Anatomy of Internet Trolling
We need to define a troll before we move too far into the topic. A troll is someone who joins a site that allows questions answers and common responses in oppositions or along with agreement to the original post, but instead of following format and protocol, the troll initiates a fight. Think of Fishing from a boat that is moving slowly through water. You do not have to cast out and reel in repeatedly, because the bait is dragging behind the boat. Eventually something will bite. The main goal of a troll is to look as innocent as possible while posting something off the wall, that he himself finds funny but confusing to others who are foolish enough to fall for this trolling.
The ultimate goal is to lead someone into arguing with the troll. If executed correctly, the troll will look innocent, and the dummy who fell for it, will look like he started a fight with someone who has a legitimate question about whether or not you can use skittles as ball barrings in your skateboard. This in turn leads the fooled forum-goer, banned from the site for being a jerk. End result is the trolls win and there is no one left within the forum to talk to so the trolls go away. Final result: the website/forum/chatroom is now dead and all page views have stopped.
A simple minded Explanation of how to troll
How to Identify a troll.
In most cases they either have no avatar, or are using an avatar from the website. Instead of a personal choice uploaded from their location.
Watch their grammar. If you can create an account, you can form a sentence.
If you are better at speaking another language, chances are your legitimate post would be on a site based on your language.
Typos like (teh) do not count, quite common, even in hospitals.
Usually no signature, if there is a signature, either a gag link to a bad site, or something that makes fun of another person. That should be your first clue ( this person is a jerk)
The post is made, and the person is no longer signed in. Why do they do this? So they can change to another account and probably respond, to look and or sound as if they agree to the trolling post. Why? because it will question your judgment. Two verses one, who is wrong?
The dead horse. If there is something that has been almost forgotten that is a bad omen for the site you are on, they will bring it up. Repeatedly. That ip address needs to be banned. Yes it is a factual event, but let the horse decay already.
Brand New account. No you can not ban everyone for being new. But you can ban people for being new and acting like a butt-tard. Easy answer, log into their account (as admin or moderator), change their password (switch first letter with last letter) .
How to Prevent Trolls
You can’t really unless you just don’t make a website. Or don’t allow comments or discussion.
They are a huge part of the internet, they actually do add an alternative thought behind a lot of discussions. Most of the time they have no idea how deep what they are saying is, they just spout out like an a.d.d. child with a bag of sugar and a pot of room temp coffee. So they say a lot of stuff and remember none of it. they are just there to disagree with you, so they say whatever sparks a fight or disagreement. You on the other hand before you know it’s a troll are actually considering some of the stuff they say. It gives you ideas. If you write them down before you realize you have been duped, you may actually be on to something. Good chances you will be upset enough to forget everything until the troll is abolished.
Trolls have gone from tub chick and goat boy, to Rick roll. Is that not great and sad within it’s self? On one hand they have tamed down a bit, on the other hand, our rebel forces are butt-tards now.

Comcast 250 gb Bandwidth Cap and cloud computing?
It’s official, Comcast is crippling us in a crippling time.
During a time when we all need something to stay the same, Comcast is deciding to come up with a way to charge us more for stuff we are into. I mean, get addicted to smoking, they tax you, get addicted to internet activity, comcast buys out all providers and then sets a limit and charges for excess.
Ok enough with the rant before I let my real emotions loose.
Has anyone considered what this would do to cloud computing? we are considering CC here at the office I work at. We have well over 500 gb of important every day files that we access. even if we only touch about 4 gb of actual files a day, you have to picture 30 of us checking updates and status of each file. first we transfer to our pc so we can look t it, make changes as we need and re-upload it.
That 4 gigs of file getting transferred probably about 50 times a day, we would break our cap within a week.
I know , “Cloud Computing in an office ?” but you have to see that we have grown large and do not want to mess with our servers and do not want to have to worry about who is going to myspace or facebook while at work, we don’t want people’s computers getting a virus anymore. We wanna pay someone else to worry about all the tiny tweaks and just let us do our jobs.
Looks like comcast is making that a harder idea to see.
Dsl does not go that fast. There really is no option .
What is Comcast up to ?
Comcast will set a total available bandwidth usage. They will be charging for people going over their monthly limit.
For an unlimited internet. they sure do dance around the word “limit” a whole lot.
They claim 43% bandwidth usage increase. Well if you buy every internet company that has many users on it, expect an increase. This is how media dumbs us down and tells us that we should pay more an accept the fact that we are bad.
Give us a choice? “throttle or cap” ? are you kidding me?
I am for neither one. I live between 2 dsl hubs!
I didn’t go over my limit. I am unlimited.
my usage did not increase, they increased the number of users.
Time to Dsl it.
Sell out’s explain it to us
Net neutrality or bandwidth capping. WTF is actually happening here?
Does the “Comunismcast” hat fit yet ?
They bought out all companies in Texas that could be an alternative to their internet supply, then they tell us we will pay for anything over a limit.. again, unlimited bandwidth….?
I say leave comcast and cripple them before all the other companies join suite. Make an example of them.
Didn’t Microsoft get sued for this exact same thing?
Myspace on the hunt for new blood.
taken from Forbes
Sample pages for the new service closely resemble Yelp’s. On each business’ page, a block of basic information (phone number, address, map, price range) is followed by a string of comments with the name of the MySpace user who commented and a picture.
Like Yelp, MySpace and Citysearch will sell ads to local businesses that can run alongside its listings and user comments. MySpace will also place ads for national brands among the local content. So far, it has signed up Coors and Outback Steakhouse as the first advertisers.
AT&T ready To Warn Pirates
At&T is geared and ready to send out cease notices to it’s subscribers who pirate movies music and software.
Legal notices will be rolling out soon.
So stop the miss use.
The phone company thus joins other major ISPs that either go beyond legal requirements or interpret their duties under the law to mean that they have to forward such notices.
Liberty Names Of America, Mail Scam?
I received this mail from liberty Names of America , also known as lnoa
The mail goes like this:
As a courtesy we would like to remind you that it is time to renew your domain name which is expiring soon. Failure to renew your domain will result in losing exclusive rights to it on the web and losing access to your online presence. By moving your domain to Liberty Names Of America, you can take advantage of the savings we have to offer. Your renewal will start from the day your domain name expires, even th you are signing up months earlier.
It goes on to shoot prices at me for my domain name. Saying that truxtertech.com will go for one year at $29 , two years at $49 and five years at $94.
I can not help but laugh in disgust. I pay 6.99 a year through netfirms for one of my other domain names. I could switch my domain myself for $150 for 10 years at bravenet.com
The people I am registered through for this current domain name is powweb.com I pay $94 a year for unlimited storage space and bandwidth, unlimited email accounts, 75 mysql databases and the domain name is free. My bill is automatically charged to my account before expiration. They can’t help lower my costs any. Why would I want to even consider Liberty Names ? They make it clear that they are not forcing me to re-up on my domain name. But the mail does look like it would be scary to someone who is new to this planet. Not that this an advertisement but hey, if you register through powweb, Let them know you read about their deal from me, I get a kick back from that stuff and it would help out a whole lot.
Well just a heads up to anyone who is doing a search in google for that dang company. They are not the registrants of your domain …. yet, So you might want to head back to where you first bought that domain and pay up. some companies might squat on it and turn it into a spam site. I lost truxter.org that way years ago. Bought it late last year and it has been a hard battle to get it back into search engines.
Is Liberty Names Of America a Scam ? I dunno, but their prices are far out of my reach.
Here’s what other’s think
Search That’s to see rip off Claims
This is to see people calling them a scam.
Others saying they are overpriced
What is a good webhosting service?
I’m happy with my current host, and about to recommend a friend there.
but i am wondering what company gives the least amount of frustration?
bluehost?
justhost?
powweb?
I do plan to use php and mysql while working on their site for them.
so please any and all information is good.
Should I get justhost? all the sites say it’s great, but all the blogs and forums say it’s only a year old and a rip off. but i do not know. what do you think of justhost, bluehost, powweb ?
something other?
comments section is wide open you do not have to create an account to comment.
like this site says they are wonderful (read closely)
and they teach you how to search the internet to see if they “suck”
but I tried to search for something else
I found this when I searched “Scam”
Of course I found this when I followed their rules
But then again, we are talking about a tech community. Techies do pick and peck at all details, especially when worrying about income and monetizing the internet’s activity.
So people, tell what is good
Bang for buck, what is the best hosting plan
I personally Like Powweb, They seem to have the lowest cost and most options.
