People of Adsense have lost their mind

Got me a notice today that the ads will be stopped on one of my websites.

The above website is not currently in compliance with our AdSense program policies and as a result, ad serving has been disabled to that website. Please review and follow the instructions in our guidelines to get ad serving reinstated on your site.

Issue ID:  25186383

It’s important for a site displaying AdSense to offer significant value to the user by providing unique and relevant content, and not to place ads on auto-generated pages or pages with little to no original content. This may include, but is not limited to:

  • copying portions of text content from other sources
  • websites dedicated to embedded videos from other hosts
  • websites with gibberish content that makes no sense or seems auto-generated
  • templated or pre-generated websites that provide duplicate content to users.

For more information, please review the AdSense program policies, this help article about scraped content and Google’s Webmaster Quality Guidelines.

I did a search to see if Google employees somehow found someone saying something identical to the content on my website. Yeah…. Me… on Google plus when I plus oned my content, Google plus took a snippet from my website… TWO DAYS LATER.

Which you can find here

I mean.. come on… Google, get your act together, and please find the guy who okayd that and give him a paid couple days off in a rub and tug somewhere. Because that person clearly did not investigate that their own system is what is doing this.
It was a dumb ponder I had and it was my own content posted.. It took not even three minutes to create.

and yes that second link on the page, is this just crappily categorized with Google’s infinite malfunction.

Thanks Google.. thanks a bunch.

I preach constantly to stay in Google guidelines, AND YOU drop the ball and I still get the brunt of it.
Thanks a bunch Google. So.. my adsense account for one of my sites is suspended.

If it will get ads back on my site, should I delete the Google plus version? I mean if that’s the case then I should just delete my whole Google plus account.
It’s buggy anyway right?

Not fit

Well someone reported this page weirdly to Google. So to comply. I have removed the content.

I am not out to cause any issues.

but here is what Google said was the issue

Violation explanation

FORMAT MIMICKING: Publishers may not implement Google ads in a manner that disguises the ads in any way. For instance, publishers may not format neighboring content to look similar to the ads, or make ads look like games or forum posts. More information about this policy can be found in our help center ( http://support.google.com/adsense/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=1346295#Formatting_content_to_mimic_ads ).

If you received a notification in regards to the way ads are implemented on your site, please make the necessary changes to your implementation. We will automatically review the site again after 72 hours. You do not need to contact us if you make changes. Funny part of this, those were not Google advertisements.

They were Lynkshare advertisements, and it was done well within Lynkshare policies. but….. I don’t want to lose my Adsense account.

I never pretended to be anything nor did I say anything that would have been implying anything. I said something like, I like these people I like their products so I have registered with them to advertise on my website, and the products even go together . It was a Roku box, and netflix. Roku is made so you can get netflix on your television that doesn’t have the apps built into it. Maybe it was the title of the page saying something about deals or whatever. Google doesn’t even offer the advertisements for those products. Their single product advertisement system is being shutdown because it flopped. So… what the heck???

Maybe I should just take their advertisements from this site completely. Probably the safe bet.

Google Retires Hosted Domains

Google is retiring the ads program for websites that have no content.
Letter from Google about retiring their domain squatter advertisements.

Hi,

We’re contacting you because you’re using AdSense for Domains to monetize your undeveloped domains. After evaluating the benefits of our partner network, we’ve decided to retire the Hosted domains product within AdSense. Going forward, undeveloped domains will only be served through our existing AdSense for Domains distribution network.
Our records show that 7 of your Hosted domains will be affected by this upcoming change, which will follow the schedule below:

March 21: You’ll no longer be able to create new Hosted domains
April 18: Hosted domains will become inactive and it’ll no longer be possible to earn from them
June 27: Hosted domains will no longer be available in AdSense accounts

To continue monetizing your undeveloped domains, you can migrate your domain portfolio to any domain parking provider. Find out how in our Migration Guide:
Migration Guide

Please note that this upcoming change won’t affect any other AdSense products you’re currently using or the availability of other products to you. In addition, reporting on your Hosted domains will remain available throughout the schedule above and for a period following the retirement.

For more information see the Help Center. We appreciate your understanding and thank you for your patience as we continue to develop new features and offerings within AdSense.

Sincerely,
The Google AdSense Team

Google to Drop Old Adsense Interface

The old adsense interface will be dropped soon. Yep that’s right, you will be shoved into the new one. Of course the new Adsense layout is quite informative and allows you to fine tune your Adsense ads, a little better. but the monitoring of page traffic is even less informative than the current, soon to be extinct page traffic.
You sure do get a whole lot more menus with the new Adsense user menu, but the question I have to ask is, why couldn’t they just ad the new to the old ? why drop what is existing and give us what is new and not have both? Just always seems fishy when we get shoved into acceptance like this. Somehow we just accept that things will never make sense and the lack of informative data replaced by bubbles and menus, is the rule of anything software.
Not saying I don’t like the new Adsense user interface, I don’t dislike it at all. Except for the traffic stats page just says “AdSense for Content” it does not show what ads, or where, while the old one already shows more information about site traffic, and well, that ones pretty slow too. but again, that traffic has to be verified and proven before it can count. And I completely get that. I think.

But . here’s the email I received today showing that the change is about to happen.

Hi,

Since releasing the new AdSense interface to all publishers, we’ve been continuously working to improve and support the new version. With that in mind, we’re writing to let you know that we’ll soon be retiring the old AdSense interface and asking all publishers to use the new interface.

If you haven’t already, we recommend switching to the new interface as soon as possible to familiarize yourself with the updated layout and new features. To do so, sign in and click the ‘Try the new AdSense interface’ link in the upper corner of your account. We understand that this adjustment may take some time, so you’ll still be able to toggle back and forth between the old and new interfaces during the coming weeks. You’ll see another notification in your account as we approach the date when this option will no longer be available.

As a reminder, the new AdSense interface offers additional insights in the form of detailed graphs and reports, new ad blocking controls, and increased efficiency through a visual redesign. We’ve now added many of your top-requested features — including the ability to create scheduled reports and view channels on the Home tab. We encourage you to watch our video tutorials at http://www.youtube.com/user/InsideAdSense#g/c/B067D355E59D96E0, which will guide you through completing common tasks in your account. You can also find detailed information in our Help Center for the new interface (http://www.google.com/adsense/support/as/).

With this transition, we’ll be able to focus on building new and improved features into the new interface more quickly. Thank you for your support, and we appreciate your patience and cooperation.

Sincerely,

The Google AdSense Team

Okay, can we go ahead and add the affiliate market to the Adsense account? why do they have to be two separate sites?
When you finally make the move to the new interface, go to the allow & Block ads, that is probably the greatest thing since advertisements on websites, ever began.
I do have to say they held onto the old interface for quite a long time, and that is more than fair of Google.
Maybe someof the features of the old interface just aren’t compatible with the new.

Google Adsense Goes Social

Google adsense will be rolling out new features. They will be adding a +1 for adsense for content Here is a letter from the adsense team.

Hello,

In the next month, we’ll introduce the +1 button and personal recommendations to display ads. The +1 button will begin to appear on AdSense for Content and AdSense for Mobile Content display ad formats — image, animated gif, and Flash. +1s will be one additional signal to help determine an ad’s relevance and we’ll continue to show the ads that will generate the most revenue for you.

We previously launched the +1 button on Google search and for publisher sites to make it easier for people to share and discover content across the web. Soon, your users will be able to endorse specific ads and make the ads more likely to appear to their social connections. We believe that these recommendations could help your readers notice ads on your site more, leading to higher returns for you over time.

If you prefer not to show the +1 buttons on display ads on your pages, you can opt out in your account. For more information please visit the Inside AdSense blog.

Sincerely,

The Google AdSense team

Will this be in the ads? will this be in the menu area? are they incorporating the affiliate network to the adsense? (I kind of hope so) . If not will they be adding the +1 button to the affiliate network so we the site owners have an easier selection of ads?
Will the adsense team knock penalties to content owners who +1 their own products?
Not much to tell from that one email but are great things to consider.
Great idea to a point then it falls short when you realize how people can be.
I hope it goes well.

Real Side of Google Adsense

As of right now. What i am seeing this year with Google Adsense in statistics (based entirely on my websites) for page view to click through ratio, is 1/355. This is actually good. Considering that my websites are for people on a budget or people trying to increase their income, those are pretty high, no matter what place advertising affiliate you use. Face it, people on a budget aren’t looking for ways to spend money, and well, most advertisements on the internet are people selling stuff.
These past few months have been very kind to on Google Adsense. I have not seen anything close to this since 2007-2009.

I see other statistics that show 1/200 and some that say even better. That would be some heavy content with lots of talk about a specific product, to make Google match the content that dang close, so that the readers would be that dang interested in the ads..

but for about three years I barely even saw 50 clicks total. This was scary. and now I have to suspect it has to do with the economy. I event created a job site about employment site and motivation to help people stay at their job with a job search specific Google search on that site on the first page. you know what gets the most hits there? People searching for tricks to make unemployment keep paying. if they only knew how detailed that searcher was and how great the results were they would know they could find the amount of job apps in their local area they need to fill out to keep unemployment happy. But what ever. My point is, people are searching for free money. Not to spend it.  This was clearly an economic issue.

Those days are over. Google seems to be doing very well with their latest update to their servers. I am seeing way more readers than before. Almost triple the count I saw in 07 per month. 07 was my best year. FYI.

So if you are thinking of using some other affiliate, I can assure you they do not have near as good of an advertisement systems as Google Adsense. Unless you get a direct advertiser on your website that pays you a set amount for the space you give them, no advertising company out there can compare to Adsense. and yes I have had my rants in the past, but the new Google tweaks are direct and spot on on.

If you are trying to decide whether or not to use Google Adwords to advertise your products, I suggest you try it for a short time and see what kind of traffic you get. I promise they will post you on the correct websites. Their nearest affiliate competitor will just slap you on any old website talking about any old thing. If you sell computers on your website, you do not want to be coming up on websites about coffee tables. Adwords will work wonders for your products. You will get correct traffic.

One thing that gets to me is the way that your ad value goes down as you get more clicks on one specific spot on one specific page. You would actually think that spot would gain value because the spot is marketed well by the page’s content. Seems that is not the case. I mean if the spot talks chili all the time, and people click the ads for the chili recipe, then the cost for that spot should go up. Right? but it does not. You would suspect that multiple companies selling the same product would be climbing over the top of each other to be placed on that spot. Especially if that spot draws traffic for that content. I mean why would you want to have your chilli advertised anywhere other than a spot that gets people saying “oh look at that, they sell chilli!” but,For some reason that spot’s value goes down, the more the clicks it receives. That’s a bit gloomy to learn.

Good luck and happy websiting.

Something that Adsense needs

I have been wishing and wishing that Adsense would tell us a few things so we know how to better target our readers. If a reader of one of my websites clicks an advertisement I would like to know what page they were on and what their search was when they found my page. I could find that information myself but it would end up taking a very long time of sifting through the list of site readers who have been to my site to see one that matches the click of an adsense link. If I had this information I would better know how to bring more readers to my site because I would know what ad they clicked and what their search was. Why would this information from adsense do me some good? because well, they where looking for something and they found something, it just was not in my content. If there is a repeated search that leads people to my site and the repeated click of a link, and the item is not on my site but similar, I could then better target that search so more people could find what they are looking for and the ads themself would be better suited for the search.
I could better optimize my post to give th reader what they need and better optimize my SEO for the content I am trying to pass out.

Something Is Wrong With My Adsense

These Adsense Results do not add up.

Does that not look funny to you?
The average estimate is Every one in every 200 will click. For me it seems it’s one in every 360 users will click an ad.
Out of 93 user who did searches, only 9 of them actually clicked with in the search. I mean really??? how can 93 people do searches and 84 of those people doing the searches say to themselves “oh, my finger is tired, I have clicked to many times, I don’t care what the results gave me, I’m going to bed now” ?????
It seems that not one single person found an interesting advertisement in my feeds. Of 298 readers who’s feed reader could see an ad, none said ” oh heck, that’s what I am looking for”. None.

I have a suspicious feeling that my adsense account is broke. Look at the pay our ratio of the searches. That’s chicken feed actually a Chicken would starve on that.

Do people not know that the Google search on websites are customized to pull better results for related content to the website they are currently on? Do people not know that Google protects their users and will not allow a bad link in their advertising system? A tech site with a Google search on it will have better results for tech related searches than regular Google and Bing put together. Why? because the site owner set their custom search for specific searches.

See Google does not respond to your questions. Google does not have an actual contact. The best you get is a forum full of other people guessing. Typically they  all have the belief that a few people have a more holy guess. usually I ask why my pay is the way it is, 3 days go by and I finally get a response’ you are looking at it wrong” and that becomes the belief amongst everyone. Really how I lookin at it wrong, what part of that, is saying I am getting checks like crazy for some stuff I don’t notice? Haven’t been paid since 2008.

What have I done wrong? If you tilt your head to the left do you see it different than I?

Adsense and mobile

Google finally updated the adsense page script. You can now see your adsense account with your android mobile browsers.
This is great news. Considering there have been a handfull of android applications that would steal your credintials for your adsense account.
So far it has been tested by me, on the default browser that comes with my android tmobile G1, and with my opera mini mobile browser. Before the revamp, adsense page would only show left 80% of the page. Just enough to hide totals of pay. And well, that was frustrating.
On another note, clicking the link at top right of your adsense account to see new adsense, is death. The beta adsense page takes forever and will not open. I tested with default android browser, and opera via wifi connection of 28mbs.
If you click it, it takes forever and some fancy footwork to get back to old adsense view.

Have fun all.

Posted via Android. dont mind the typos. I’ll fix em later.

Giving Adbrite another Try

A while back I wrote “Adbrite Vs Adsense” took a year to gather the information for that review.
one thing that makes that post unfair, is I was not using an advantage that Adbrite has over Adsense. Adbrite uses inline ads, and adsense no longer does that. Or at least my account does not. I am not going to use the full page pop-up pop-under ads that Adbrite uses, since that annoys me even more than inline ads.
I took some time to read other reviews of Adbrite affiliates and they all use the inline ads and make a ton more money than what I made.
One downside is I know that Adbrite ads are not very “on topic” which means I could be talking about computers and Ipads, while the Adbrite ads will be about a laxative.
I have used inline ads before and saw a drastic drop in my site traffic when I did so. My return visits nearly stopped completely. But i have to do it. I need the money.

I will turn off my ad blocking (modified hosts file), and check my posts individually and see how well I am holding with my ads. See if my ads offend me. if they do then i will have to remove them. If I can’t stand it, then I am sure my readers can’t stand the ads.

If you have any idea how Adbrite pays, let me know. i am still not impressed and need some positive comments from experienced users. Or negitive if it’s really needed.
